Full time. Disappointing.
Re: Pints, Punts and Points. Home v Cambridge United, Easter Monday 3-0'clock
Absolutely garbage to throw that away.
Lee, shooting boots needed.

Where did all that stoppage time come from in the first place?
So many crap performances in the first half and we've paid the price. Much better second half, wasted chance.

Like Mr Jones said..."It's not unusual" . Not putting games to bed is our Achilles heel.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Still 6th and with a game in hand. Par for last 2 games with 4 points... but feck bollocks and arse.

Big-club play-offs hopefuls held at home by relative minnows desperately seeking to avoid the drop, leading to fans questioning whether they’re good enough for the fight.
But enough of Derby-MK and Pompey-Morecambe - we should have won our game, and the slip widens the field again. Posh go above us (from a game more), Wycombe catch up two points.
The game’s afoot.

Disappointingly, another bumper crowd let down. Happens so often to us. Crowds still getting bigger though, so not all put off it seems.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:03 pmBig-club play-offs hopefuls held at home by relative minnows desperately seeking to avoid the drop, leading to fans questioning whether they’re good enough for the fight.

Thankfully Derby have drawn, down to 6th with Wycombe gaining 2 points on us.
Due a bad one, just hope that's it.

That was pretty woeful. Woke up a bit with the subs, then imploded at the back and could've lost...not the first free header they had...we nearly started with the MF I had down as "no chance will we do that"
Too easy to blame a 19 year old 5th choice CB...Must do better...If I was to take a Sammy Lee positive, as the Gun said, N'lundulu looked sharper than I've seen thus far...

That's down to Evatt fecking about over thinking it, far too many changes - play your best side FFS. Our 1st team is decent but the back up is poor, absolutely no need to rest so many players.
He deserves the plaudits for the EFL trophy etc, but should also hold his hands up for today - our January signings have been very disappointing IMO like B team signings. The defending in the that last 5 minutes was amateur Mbete, Shoretire FFS, both will be playing in League 2 or the conference in a 1 year or so.
So typically Bolton, win well at Wembley entice missing fans back and almost fill the stadium then perform so shite like that

Got more than we deserved in the end. Utter dross for most of that.
Mbete and Shoretire…can go back to their clubs. Both absolute donkeys.
Frustrating but Derby slipping up probably saves us. Evatt partly to blame as I have no idea why he brought Kachunga into midfield at 1-0 and neither did any of the players either. 15 minutes of shrugs at the bench arms out stretched. Why did he think we should play the last 20 odd minutes with only Morley filling midfield? Crazy.
Not much we can take from this. It’s an incredibly worrying performance at this stage and shows we simply have to play our strongest team week in week out. All this ‘tired talk’ and changes same as after semi final and same result.

Hope our back 3 are ok. Jones looked absolutely done in towards the end after his little jaunt forwards, and Mbete took a hell of. Knock in giving away the free kick...

I think we have to rotate somewhat. But today was over done. And then over done off the bench. The January signings are all incredibly questionable.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:09 pmThat's down to Evatt fecking about over thinking it, far too many changes - play your best side FFS. But let’s not mess. Mbete and Shoretire simply cannot be asked to play again. They are inept and might be young but they are not ours so I have no interest in them developing whilst costing us. Sorry. But they are both kids. Way below the level required.
Re: Pints, Punts and Points. Home v Cambridge United, Easter Monday 3-0'clock
It was a gamble by Evatt. One that almost paid off.
Even with all the subs I don't think anyone was expecting such a poor performance in the first half. I can't remember anything decent from Adeboyejo. The nightmarish performance from Shoretire wasnt helping even if he almost got himself out of jail.
As much admiration that is going round for Evatt and the team lately, it's clear they got it wrong. Almost a sell out crowd and they put out a B team for people to watch. Flip the script, get our first team out and then sub accordingly and hopefully different result.

We can’t drop Mbete really? If MJ Williams was going to play at the beach today was the day to try it. Can’t do it in front of the big crowds at the Reebok can we!

Those two subs after we scored were up there with the worst tactical substitutions in recent history, I hope Evatt has a really good look at himself as it completely left us with no midfield - really stupid substitutions.

I'm sorry, it may be the way we play not being suited to him, but Adeboyejo is an absolute waste of the reported £1/2M, in Evatt's system - he's a duck out of water, I actually feel sorry for him.
Re: Pints, Punts and Points. Home v Cambridge United, Easter Monday 3-0'clock
I think Shoretire needs to be nothing more than a desperation sub from this point on. If he's determined to keep.the system and therefore play Mbete, play a midfield two who protect him. Not Kachunga.
I see why he did what he did today (excepting the late Kachunga sub), but he shouldn't do it again. Best players every time. Maybe rotate one in one out in midfield, like for like. If someone gets injured, deal with it, but none of this trying to be too clever stuff. Don't want to end up with another Freedman/Rob Hall scenario.

He could have put Lee in and changed the two strikers and then had subs to change it easily. But the wholesale changes in midfield were too much.LeverEnd wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:26 pmI think Shoretire needs to be nothing more than a desperation sub from this point on. Still can’t work out the thinking of weakening the midfield with Kachunga on at 1-0.
