New Sky EFL deal
https://www.efl.com/news/2023/may/efl-a ... sky-sports
This feels like a lot of matches:
“ Each season, Sky Sports will broadcast a minimum of:
328 Sky Bet Championship matches
248 Sky Bet League One matches
248 Sky Bet League Two matches
All 15 Play-Off matches
All 93 Carabao Cup matches
All 127 EFL Trophy matches
Each League weekend fixture round will see 10 live EFL fixtures shown. Five matches will be shown from the Sky Bet Championship and supporters of Sky Bet League One and League Two teams will now benefit from greater coverage than ever before with five of their games being broadcast live. For the first time ever, fans will be also able to watch every match from the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy.
All opening, final day, and midweek fixtures in the Sky Bet EFL will be shown live as will all games played on Bank Holidays including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day alongside the matches played in Sky Bet League One & Two during international breaks. ”
End of the Saturday 3pm?

Great news. Let's hope all EFL clubs use this extra cash to get their finances in better shape rather than splash it all on wages.

Not this time.
Re: New Sky EFL deal
I think a lot of the games are going to be Tuesday/Wednesday games on the red button/online. They do it with the Championship games and have announced this will include L1 and L2 games. A round of matches will soon eat into the numbers of games they mention. The worry will be ifollow and our own version which has been mentioned. Sky will get the right to show our games midweek in the UK which will mean subbing to their services to watch the games they have. This will include Carabao and Papa John too.
It'll soon potentially become expensive to watch the games.

Be cheaper to just have a season ticket tbh.DJBlu wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 9:39 pmI think a lot of the games are going to be Tuesday/Wednesday games on the red button/online. Not with the travel from London (me) or South Wales (DJB)... But maybe one day. The Good Lady Wife is pondering the prospect of moving back north when retirement beckons – say, a decade or so – and I'm doing nowt to dissuade her...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 9:50 amBe cheaper to just have a season ticket tbh.DJBlu wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 9:39 pmIt'll soon potentially become expensive to watch the games.

Back to topic - if a match is on Red Button is it also on Now TV? To be perfectly honest it's probably better value to pay Sky £11 or whatever it is than £10 for the iFollow coverage. Pity that the money doesn't go to BWFC, but then we'll be benefiting from the new deal...

Yeah I get that. It’s just a bit wrong where it might be cheaper to have a season ticket than it is to watch say a majority but not all our home games on a TV…Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 10:39 amNot with the travel from London (me) or South Wales (DJB)... The sky deal is good for clubs but can’t help feel that fans will increasingly have subscriber fatigue to all these services. £10 for what you get from ifollow seems a LOT to me.

You don’t get the red button with now tv. Could be an option of course, this has to be the viewers they are after with the new deal.

Yeah, must admit I've wavered on a few games this season, including yesterday. But I've generally always ponied up. I can well understand why not everybody does, though.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 12:44 pmThe sky deal is good for clubs but can’t help feel that fans will increasingly have subscriber fatigue to all these services. £10 for what you get from ifollow seems a LOT to me.

Re: New Sky EFL deal
Ipswich pull out of iFollow. They aren't the first and won't be the last, but the timing is interesting if Sky have more bagsies than previously.

Ifollow frustrated the hell out of me at times, but I certainly appreciated it in the pandemic. No idea about the new lot.

"The recently announced new EFL domestic broadcast deal with Sky Sports will run from the 2024/25 season and will effectively replace the Club’s live domestic streaming service from that point forward."
This sentence sounds like all clubs are out of iFollow from 24/25
We're getting one season of these new guys whether we like it or not.

Re: New Sky EFL deal
Yeah - the sky deal includes live showing of a number of games on Saturday and all midweek fixtures....so for the purposes of ifollow and what it could offer the UK audience Sky is fully replacing that.DJBlu wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 9:22 am"The recently announced new EFL domestic broadcast deal with Sky Sports will run from the 2024/25 season and will effectively replace the Club’s live domestic streaming service from that point forward."

I guess that it means people need a sky sub of some sort - presumably will be online offerings too and via the TV its a red button job.
But they are showing all midweek games, all carabao and league trophy games. And is it 8 games on a Saturday (I assume they have to move the KO times).
Re: New Sky EFL deal
Quick question for anyone who watched the last two friendlies on Wanderers TV.
Did you have the following options?
1080pHQ
720pHQ
I ask as I can watch the recorded stuff with that option on my Tablet and phone using Samsung browser but not live and any other browser doesnt have these options.
These are the 60fps and obviously better quality.

Can you watch it on a smart TV or is that a bit of an Enfield question?!
