Always gonna be a tough ask. Can't imagine it'll be much longer without subs. Gotta get Sheehan on as we've not got the strikers being picked out.
Nlundulu and Charles trying but little service.
Ref not helping. Don't think I've seen us get a 50/50 shout yet.

Us at our worst that. Slow, backwards and sideways out of defence. Creating nowt and causing our own problems.

Definitely a product of our own misgivings. Doesn't feel like we've got any momentum here.

Williams for Morley
Sheehan for Thomason
Anyone for Nlundulu
Sheehan for Thomason

I’d be tempted to bring both MJ and Sheehan on.

Second best by a comfortable margin.
We look scared, naive almost, and yet again we're easily losing the midfield battle - Morley's had a match and a half to do something and he's just disappeared.
I'd be tempted to bring an extra midfielder on to help us try and beat their high press but we won't change our shape.
I'd feel more reassured with John rather than Williams at LWB as well.

This is the trouble with how Evatt wants to play. I don’t think player for player Barnsley are better than us. But they are playing a simple and repeatable game and scoring goals with a simple formula. They haven’t had to do much. Just press well. Run hard. Put it in the box when required.
Our game relies on us being not just better but significantly better than the opposition especially in these sorts of crunch games.
It’s why Big Sam did so well in the play offs. A simple game focussed in repeatable patterns that is hard to stop. And it didn’t rely on individuals performing above themselves.
The way we are trying to play means we have to not just be better but significantly better all over the park.

66% possession.
That and doing nothing with it.
Morley is panicking as he knows the importance of the game.
This is a young team, we need to remember that.

I haven't seen a mention of Charles (well, maybe one) all game. Is he playing? COME ON GET STUCK INTO THEM, THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND FINNESSE. SHOW SOME FIGHT...One gola is all it takes....Keep the Faith....

I'd keep them but they wouldn't be regular starters. They're 5th and 6th in the midfield pecking order.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 9:03 pmI hear you, but Morley has had a decent season for me, just the last few games where he's not been good. They're both younger than N'lundulu....

Should've gone 4-5-1. Overload midfield and get stuck in. Feels like we're resigned to passing it until we lose it as opposed to making it difficult for the opposition.
If anyone is going to be able to ramp up their performance levels is bound, it'll be in games like this. So not entirely sure our usual strategy of outlasted them while they chase will work.
Can imagine us needing to throw everything at them here.
Feel resigned to a defeat at the moment.

I agree, but he appears to have wilted in these high pressure games against good opposition.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 9:03 pmI hear you, but Morley has had a decent season for me, just the last few games where he's not been good. They're both younger than N'lundulu....

I can vouchsafe, the fact that you've not seen mention of Dion has been little to do with Dion.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 9:06 pmI haven't seen a mention of Charles (well, maybe one) all game. Is he playing? COME ON GET STUCK INTO THEM, THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND FINNESSE. SHOW SOME FIGHT...

Dion had 9 touches in the first half.

Morley definitely had a good season. That's the trouble. We know what he's capable of. Even if he'll struggle to get to those levels.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 9:03 pmI hear you, but Morley has had a decent season for me, just the last few games where he's not been good. Excellent from Dion, but Bradley must do better.
