Jones! Wasn't expecting that. We must see the game very differently, nothing wrong with that of course. Personally thought he was excellent.
I think he's allowed himself to be dragged out of position a couple of times which has been exposed by runners.

Like I say, only if I had to find fault.

Charles is half a second too slow with his shots.

The link up between him and Vic has been a lot better today.

That’s a huge positive innit. I noticed that: a few nice knock-backs; not constantly tripping over each other; V backing in more effectively to free up Dion. Then V can’t find the near post from a beauty from Randy.

Iredale and the wing-backs have been excellent. Feel like Cogkey could get/make a few this season. Looks really smart.

Both teams evenly matched , fingers crossed bodes well for the season ahead.
Why were those scrotey kids on the pitch at the end.

Thoroughly enjoyed that. They all looked decent at worst. Particularly enjoyed—despite giving it away twice in dangerous areas—Thommo flying into a couple of challenges. Once fairly.

Looked a good side. I suppose the only worry is the finishing, still.

That was excellent. Entertaining and a proper contest.

We were the better side and played the better football, so we have to be happy with that.

There's a lot to praise, but special mention to Randell Williams, who looked like the player I was expecting when we signed him. Intelligent, fun and ran his knackers off. If our left flank next season is him and Ashworth I'm happy with that.

You've got to admire Thomasson's enthusiasm, plays every game like it's a war.

Followed Dan Barnes match commentary and read the comments. All very positive sounding against a Premier side. Clean sheet and Barnes ans Santos got the plaudits in defense. All the new lads sound to have played a part and done okay. Happy Wanderer. :oyea:

Yeah if anything, Ade's been a bit hot and cold.

Vic's done OK and put a lovely cushioned header onto Dion's laces. Oh and that turn by Williams. Some nice stuff...
If Vics done OK, who's the Ade you're referring to Worthy?

Santos and Iredale excellent. I'm really expecting big things from Randy on pre season showings too. Good first sighting (for me) of Baxter too. A very enjoyable evening.

My bad, Harry, Aaron Morley, not poor, couple of loose ones, first half.

The more we play like this the more confident we'll get. We still refuse some passes we should take on. Santos punched a pass through the lines to Sheehan at one point and I found myself shouting "YES!" at the TV. Iredale was happy to spray the ball 50 yards, but I'd like to see him smash the ball through on the deck. We have players who will take it in and use it.

CMG looks like he'll fit like a glove. You can't tell a huge amount from 20 minutes, but what you can see is his work rate is excellent.

Honestly, I love this team. It's not the style of play (though I like that) or the lads themselves (who seem a decent bunch), it's the constant running and willingness to suffer for their mates. Dion and Vic running back 50-60 yards to cover, Williams sprinting 40 yards to try and preserve the ball...it's exactly what you want from players wearing your shirt.

Ahh. Understood. Vic tonight played like the bloke I thought we'd bought. A little more self belief when running at defenders and he'd be a real handful. His link up play appears to be looking much better.

He had a decent showing. I know he didn't squeeze in the near post in the second half, but the run was good and a decent block by defender..

I was watching Tarkowski and Santos first half. Not difficult to see who had the better game.

Certainly some bright spots, a bit cut open on occasion, Baxter made a couple of decent saves

Trafford and Bradley who? We didn’t miss either of them tonight.

I like the look of Baxter. He made 4 or 5 quality saves tonight backed by solid defenders. Santos in particular was excellent. Iredale and Jones steady defensively besides him and added more going forward.

What I like with the seven in front of them was the creativity. We had runs from Dempsey, Williams and JD-C. Even Morley got forward more than I’ve ever seen him. We relied too much on Bradley last season but tonight we had that same threat on both sides and down the middle.

Probably my pick of the night was Sheehan. Always available and happy to take the ball in difficult positions yet I cannot remember him giving it away. He is going to be important for us the was Evatt wants us to play.

Victor looked like a different player to last season. I’m not sure if it is just having pre-season with the team but he looked a real handful. Dion was his typical self and probably should have had a couple of goals.

What pleased me with the changes was we didn’t look particularly weaker. All comfortable on the ball and wanting it at their feet.

The only problem I have is they have now got my hopes up and that is what kills you.
