Wanderers v Cheltenham (A) 12 August - Are we up for the Gold Cup?
We've only played Cheltenham 7 times and there's no clear leader - we've won three, drawn two and lost two. At Cheltenham, it's two wins and two losses, including a 1-0 reverse when we were in our Oct/Nov "slump" last season. There's never been a shedload of goals splitting the sides, either, the wins have always been by an odd goal and the highest scoring game was 2-2 draw our first season back in L1. I have to say, I'm struggling to get excited by the season's kick-off, feels like we only just finished last year.
Tomorrow, we have a chance, to try and show our credentials, to a team that lost 1-0, away to Shrewsbury first time out, last week.
Can't wait.

It's going to be a sterner test than Lincoln. Them losing May is a huge blow for them, but as they say - "Next Man up". They'll be bang up for it. An early goal for us would be wonderful to open things up, but I'd take a win any which way and how.
I'd start with Vic and Charles again, that's for damn sho'

2-0 win for us tomorrow.
Still underwhelmed by this transfer window quality wise & personally I don't think this team is strong enough for the top 2, but a win at Cheltenham would be decent and 6 points from 2 games would be a great start.
The underwhelmed is based on the fact that we don't have another RWB to compete with JDC (who's decent btw), and if he gets injured we could struggle, and we also haven't brought in enough quality to change the starting midfield & attack which wasn't good enough last season.

Didn't Kachunga end up at Cheltenham? He's going to score the winner off the back of his head in the 110th minute

If he scores a hat-trick it'll be for Cambridge!

If we're serious about promotion, then you'd expect a win here. 1-2 us and I'd like Dion to get on the score sheet. But, I've got the pitchfork ready just in case ...

At it from the off and get two or three goals. The rest is immaterial. COME ON YOU WHITES....

Whilst these types of games have been our Achilles heel in recent seasons, it would be slightly disappointing if we can’t get a win today against likely relegation candidates.
I’d guess Evatt will start the same team as he put out for Lincoln. No real reason to make changes after what was a good performance last weekend.

I'd have thought him or Sheehan is the only real question. Sheehan was excellent last week and who I'd play, but we might want the extra physicality here.

Game will suit Thomason more maybe than a lightweight Sheehan.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 10:12 amWhy do you think that?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 9:37 amThomason will play I think.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 8:10 amWhilst these types of games have been our Achilles heel in recent seasons, it would be slightly disappointing if we can’t get a win today against likely relegation candidates.

Iles reporting a £1m bid from Bristol City. If true, Thomason might not be risked today.
