North by North West..Bolton v Fleetwood Tues 15th Aug 7-45.

No passports needed as we're at home for the next two and the local weather forecast means you might need your Mac's for the Visit of Fleetwood on Tuesday. They've won one, drawn one and lost two (one an E'F'L Cup game) in their last four games, so no need to tremble. As ever, the Cod Army bring a whiff of kippers to the ToughSheet stadium. and it's always a spicy affair, so take naught for granted. We will, of course win, possibly by 2-0. COME ON YOU WHITES.... :oyea: :oyea:

Believe they're going through a bit of an evolution and will look to get the ball down and play. Which will surely suit us more than them sitting in, even though we have found solutions to that problem

May be a game we have to surrender a little bit of the ball (still probably having the majority of it) and punish them on turnovers. Could be a good game for Maghoma to start, to help us break things up and spring quickly

Yeah. Without minimising Fleetwood, Evatt will want to win against Wigan. I would be surprised we see the same starting midfield trio in both games, and while he clearly has horses for courses it's also fair to say the Demps/Morley/Sheehan trio is currently his default. So I think we may indeed see a change or two tomorrow - with Maghoma being the favourite to come in, possibly unless Thomason rejects the move.

Tomorrows referee is the same one that mistook Kachunga for Charles. Wonder how well he takes a gentle ribbing from the players.

Chances of Thomason starting tomorrow have to be high, you'd imagine.

Be amazed if he does not. Though you might ask whether he's a good fit for the Saturday game....given the extra needle likely....

Yes, was just coming onto this thread to say the same. High likelihood of him coming into the XI for this.

Depends on how far down the road we are with Bristol City. I suspect all parties wouldn't want a deal scuppered by a risk of injury unnecessarily.

Evatt just confirmed that George turned down the move.

Fair enough. I've also seen on the website that there has been another offer from another club as well for his services. The presumption I guess is the amount of game time GT would get would be too low, his wages too low, or he didn't want to uproot his family being settled at Bolton.

Either way I suspect the club (and fans) are happy with GT's progress and he's an asset to the squad. The nod to say there has been another offer made might just be mind games to raise the level of interest in him or have Bristol City come back with an offer with higher wages.

Whatever the case, i'm delighted we're in a position to have our players being in high demand and us having the flexibility to determine if or when we sell.

In others news:
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Eoin Toal will feature for the B Team tomorrow (Tuesday) when the young Whites complete their pre-season preparations with a friendly at home to Huddersfield Town B.

So that's those two ruled out (can't imagine a repeat of the Jones situation). Squad is looking increasingly likely to be a repeat of our last league outing.

There hasn't been another offer. Just one from Bristol City. Thomason doesn't want to leave.

Anyway, despite it being so early in the season, tomorrow’s fixture looks rather like a ‘must win’ if we’re gunning for the autos.

I don’t expect wholesale changes, but think we’ll see one or two tweaks to the starting lineup with another important game coming up on Saturday.

Baxter

Jones Santos Forrester

JDC Maghoma Thomason Dempsey Williams

Dion Vic

2-0 Bolton

If Cogley starts he's essentially super-human and fair play to him.

I'd probably look at starting Jones and Ashworth as the wingbacks.

Know of any RWBs that might be available on loan to us from the Prem clubs?

We need to stop with this idea that you can play centre halves at wing back especially against Fleetwood at home. Sadlier and John and if Evatt won’t play them then it points to urgency of needing wing backs in.

I agree. Assuming we don't get any in tomorrow, who would you play out wide?

Didn't we win 5-0 the last two times Jones played RWB. I mean I definitely think we need a new RWB but it'll be reet for a game or two.

I don’t think it’s impossible for JDC or Williams to play but sub optimal.

Last mid week he played JDC and rested Williams for Ashworth.

I could go with that. Or do it other way round and play Randell at RWB and rest JDC.

But definitely need to get wing backs in if Evatt doesn’t consider Sadlier and John as even possible rotations.

Evatt has said Ashworth is a wingback for him.

We certainly need another RWB in the building, but we don't have one yet.

I find it hard to see Cogley starting against both Fleetwood and Wigan. Personally I'd rather he started against Wigan.

That means the obvious choice is to put Jones at RWB and Forrester in at RCB.

If Evatt wants to bring Sads and John in from the cold then okay.
