When they deal with the big draws every week they won't give two hoots about a Barrow game drawing in less than 100 extra on tv. But then the issue isn't with it not be financially prudent for them to spend resources on supporting it, but the fact that no one else can.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 12:33 pmIt's a poor do. I'm surprised they aren't doing more on red-button. But then, maybe they've figured people aren't arsed.

Yeah, it's weird. When the deal was struck in May, a fair few places said they'd effectively bought iFollow – but at least that would allow people to watch it, and rake in £10 per game – comparable to a NOW TV day pass.Mar wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 12:48 pmWhen they deal with the big draws every week they won't give two hoots about a Barrow game drawing in less than 100 extra on tv. Maybe it's quality control - they don't want to charge people for a one-camera stream without commentator - but it seems the alternative is basically buying up the market as a blocker. All a bit dog-in-the-manger.

And don’t Sky have all EFL rights from next year on? Assumption was all games would be on red button then….but….Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 12:52 pmYeah, it's weird. They've just wanted to lock in the big games. Don't care about the lower league clearly.

I used to - I did Anfield, Goodison, Highbury etc. and did all the Wembley & Cardiff final's from Bristol City which was my 1st - the Pizza cup last season was the only final that I've missed.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 10:49 amI'm getting the feeling you're not a cup loverBertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 10:46 amZero interest in this game, I wouldn't go if it was free.
IDK - I'm always wary of ruling them out, like my mate who refused to go to Anfield in '93 cos he was saving up... but yeah, I can understand if folk don't part with their hard-earned money (or, in your hypothetical case, time )
It's risk & reward for me now, the risk of injuries to 1 or 2 key players against possibly going through a couple of rounds and getting beat in round 3 or 4 by the 1st really good team that we come up against (Villa etc.) isn't worth it IMO - and by the look of the home ticket sales tonight I'm not alone. Promotion from League 1 should be the absolute priority.

Ah well, guess I'll be watching some Netflix bullshit with the wife tonight then.
As for the game, it will be interesting to see whether the lesser spotted Sadlier and John get run outs. On one hand I would be quite keen to rest Randy and JDC, but on the other, if we do see Sads and Dec, it might suggest that we don't have moves lined up for them.

Would be very risky to play Sadlier & John tonight. Not just in case of injury; with their lack of positional covering, a Championship side would kill us on the transition.

I'd like to see JDC rested for Saturday but whether that means Jones or Randy switching over and a possible appearance by Dec John I dunno. I can't imagine they're playing a full strength side either, despite their need for a win and a confidence boost.

Alternatively play them and give them a chance. If they don’t perform well they’ve had a chance. If they do perform they might get a move or we might be able to use them further to add to what we have available…..Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 2:41 pmWould be very risky to play Sadlier & John tonight. Assuming that’s Forrester-Toal-Iredale at the back with Geth and Ash wide. Interested to hear how CMG does as a split striker. With no real “10” in the midfield trio, it’s about as defensively-minded lineup as Evatt could be expected to play. (Maybe Maghoma for Sheehan.)

Can’t help but feel we’ll get battered tonight. A loss wouldn’t be so bad, but concerned about morale—particularly after reading Sharon’s letter today. Perhaps the seeming apathy, as far as tickets are concerned, is a good thing.
Be really nice to shock some, though. Be great to get CMG firing for his future substitute impact.

It's six changes for them, BTW. Local press:
"Carrick makes six changes as Glover, McNair, Barlaser, Forss, Crooks and Jones come in for Dieng, Smith, Howson, Silvera, Rogers and McGree. No real surprise to see Carrick ring the changes. Not much he can do with his defence given Smith is suspended and Van den Berg, Clarke and Dijksteel are injured. Will ask after if that's also the case for Coulson, but getting Engel more game time makes sense right now. That's the case for Latte Lath too, while Jones, Forss and Crooks come in behind him having not started at the weekend. Barlaser also in for Howson, given the veteran midfielder is only recently back from injury, no need to risk him this evening."
