Fecking corner flagging it, 1 up at Port Vale. FML.
Alternatively: protecting a lead at a top-four team with a very thin squad.

You know I like my attacking football, but there's a time and a place.

I'd rather us do that than piss about with it on the edge of our box, given our unusual mental fragility of late.

That'll do. Hard fought away win at a top 6 side.

My point was being in that position from such a strong half performance.

The clean sheet is as equally big as the goal.

Great 3 points.

An eight-yard wide sheet? That'd be a bugger to dry without dropping on the lawn.

Well done Clean Sheet Whites!! :pissed:

Battling away win against a high flying opponent. That’ll do.

Will Forrester is a top defender and probably gets MOTM for me.

A great win, even more so in our current predicament.

Big up the eight-yard wide clean sheet whites!

So there's a *very* tight chasing pack that we're now at/near the front of. But as noted in-game, this felt like the day two teams broke away slightly.

All we can do is keep doing as well as we can, and that starts with beating Stevenage - turned over at home, slightly unfortuitously, by Oxford to lose their auto slot - on Tuesday night, in what is a full 12-game League One programme.

If (if) we get six points from the next two home games, the worst we can be is third, 4pts behind. The top two also have 'home doubles': Oxford will eye 6pts from hosting Shrewsbury (currently 18th) then Bristol Rovers (14th), while Pompey hosting Wycombe (9th) and Vale (6th) will tell us a bit more about them. The picture's getting clearer by the game.

Stevenage have won only one of their last 5.

Great performance over all.

First half it's like watching city, PV couldn't get near us, then that second half they pressed us and we just can't deal with it. We couldn't string five passes together. It seems like this is our major problem encapsulated in one game, if teams don't/can't press us we play them off the park if they do we're average at best. I think if we had a couple of midfielders who were "press resistant" we'd piss this league.

Should also add we defended really well too.

Big 3 points. Loved the way we dug in. Have we lost the "soft" tag? We really dug in admirably during the 2nd half. Our wingbacks were excellent and Baxter gets better each game, looking now like the keeper he was touted to be. A shout out to big Dan. We seemed to have finally found out how to play him .. not through the middle but have him picking up the ball just off that on the left where he seems to be more effective.
