Are there reliable links pointing to us having an interest in Sam Smith or is it just a case of people recognising we need a striker, Reading need to raise cash and putting two and two together?

I take it we’ve given up on Ennis for now. This will go to the wire to get best bang for our buck I fear!

It's just a name that's cropped up and may well just be 1+1 stuff.
Evatt said in his pre-match that he's "even more confident now that we'll leave the window stronger", so presumably we'll find out in short order who we've gone for.

Going purely off what Ian said on Wanderers TV, it sounds like we've made significant progress to get deals sorted.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:26 pmI take it we’ve given up on Ennis for now. This will go to the wire to get best bang for our buck I fear!
Things can go wrong right up until everything is signed off, but if we think we're basically there that has to be positive. At the very least if one of the deals blows up now we have some time to try and react. If it happens on deadline day you're a bit screwed.
I would LOVE to have a deal or two done tomorrow before we smash Cheltenham. Travel to Carlisle on a high and then get the new lads some starts against Blackpool.

I hope that isn't positive Ian meaning Jerome scored one in training so that'll make us betterGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 11:14 pmEvatt said in his pre-match that he's "even more confident now that we'll leave the window stronger"

Sounds like some primary targets became available and we've got deals agreed for them.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:00 amI hope that isn't positive Ian meaning Jerome scored one in training so that'll make us better

I’ve not watched the video but reading the BN article and his comments in print it would sound to me like a target has become available that wasn’t before but he also says ‘lots going on behind the scenes but for now nothing to report’.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 12:45 amGoing purely off what Ian said on Wanderers TV, it sounds like we've made significant progress to get deals sorted.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:26 pmI take it we’ve given up on Ennis for now. It doesnt scream imminent deal to me. More that he believes we are making progress on some previously unavailable target.

No issue with that assessment. I've read it as him feeling like he very much should get who he wants, rather than his usual "We know who we want" stuff.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:47 amI’ve not watched the video but reading the BN article and his comments in print it would sound to me like a target has become available that wasn’t before but he also says ‘lots going on behind the scenes but for now nothing to report’.

Football Insider is reporting that Vic is a target for "overseas clubs."
Make of that what you will.

I wonder how much of a fee various folk on here would accept. Not long since some would have offered to drive him there (presumably through the Channel Tunnel). And we are a trading club. But not one bursting with strikers who strike.

Entirely possible.
A lot of folk on social media seem thrilled at the idea of breaking up the best strike partnership in the division with a week left in the window.
Takes all sorts

Evatt saying that at the end of the window hopefully everyone will be happy, I couldnt shake the feeling that a key personnel will leave (Bod, Vic, Charles, Thomo? ) to fund some attractive options coming in.

“Whatever business we do people will hopefully see the benefit and they’ll be excited by it… There are some exciting things happening. But, for now, there is nothing to report… We’ll see what happens.”
Yeah that could go either way. But I have hope in my heart.
