Imminent press conference at which we will discover injury extent for Rico & Toal.

Small thought: if we’re short on CBs and long on forwards, might we switch to a back four? Last time we did that midseason we went up 😊
Different thought. Play Jerome at centre back.

Without harshing Ghost’s buzz…
Na, it's fine. Good signing for them if they can get it over the line in time.

Next season we'll be in the Championship and with the new data chaps involved we'll see what we can go.

Interesting. If it came to either-or, wonder which way they’d go.

BBC Manchester tweeted we'd signed Taylor and then deleted.

No backsies, Jack!

Serious point - if as rumoured Santos has a bad injury and is out for a while - back four would make sense and we could play Collins and CMG off a striker.

But then you've got very little to do when your wingers get tired. You're throwing on players like Charles, Bod or Vic into wide areas, unless we're going to utilise Ogbeta as a winger.

If Santo is out for a while then it's just Taylor for Santos (assuming that's done).

If Santos AND Toal are out then yeah, maybe you look at Taylor and Iredale in a 4.

IE on Santos: “Not great, he has got a slight tear behind his calf. It is in a position which makes it a little bit more complicated than it ordinarily would be.”

IE on Toal: “It is not straightforward tendinopathy like we thought, but we are hopeful Eoin can carry on."

Hearing two weeks for Rico

Not all bad then.

4-6 weeks my arse. The lad needs to stop tenpin bowling though. It's causing no end of issues.

Not always easy to follow Marc's deadline scribbles.

I read this as "Santos has a small tear, rested for 2 weeks", "Toal can hopefully play through", "Forrester back in training."

With Taylor in that sounds like we're absolutely fine, to be honest.

So Santos has a tear and will get two weeks off at least to try and recover. Eoin is playing through an unnamed injury that isn’t tendinopathy and Forrester returns to training tomorrow.

Talk about a mixed bag of news. But overall doesn’t seem as bad as maybe we might have feared. Two centre halves carrying injuries through run in though I guess has promoted move for Taylor.

TBF it’s Dan Barnes typing during conference - so yeah, it all needs sense-checking

With Jones back next week after South Korea incinerate the Aussies that leaves us really quite strong for the rest of the season.

Santos is a massive miss against Barnsley, mind.

I’d be very happy if we do get Caleb Taylor on loan (ignoring the fact it probably means either Rico or Eoin are out injured)

He’s very similar in playing style and physical attributes to Toal to be honest. Tall and gangly but deceptively strong and quick. Much like Toal, Taylor isn’t terrible on the ball but it’s an area of improvement for him.

Now we know santos is out who gets central berth? Toal or Taylor?
