Iles expecting no other incomings, which is fair. One or two young loans out - Matheson presumably.
And with that, and the injury news better than feared, I’m out for a bit. Got my own deadline - to lie on a beach, I fly home tomorrow…

And Williams! Oh wait he did his hamstring didn't he.DJBlu wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:43 pmThe phrase is "Riding the storm".truewhite15 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:35 pmCould be better, could be worse. Losing Rico for any length of time is a blow - he's one of the best in this league. But giving him a couple of weeks to recover (is that two weeks from Tuesday gone, or two weeks from now) should hopefully mitigate.
Similarly, not great that we're potentially asking Toal to play with a minor injury, but needs must. Just hope it doesn't go ping.
Great that Forrester is on the way back though. He's impressed me. And I see no reason he couldn't cover the central defender role, as well as the wide centre back.
In two weeks we could potentially be top with 2 games in hand and the following defenders to choose from
Jones, Iredale, Santos, JDC, Forrester, Taylor, Toal, Ashworth, Ogbeta and Ramsay.
No Cup distractions. Will it be enough? Who knows but it's probably going to be one fecking ride!

I think that’s as good a Jan window as you can ask for. We’ve left it late and maybe for good reason. We’ve potentially suffered injuries and may have a tough period for a few weeks integrating new players and getting them up to speed whilst we get others back fit.
But I think it’s as good as is possible to give ourselves the best chance.
Of course windows and transfers are merely a distraction from what happens on the pitch which is ultimately most critical. I have a feeling we might struggle for a couple of weeks during transition. But hopefully after that we are really strong for the run in.
It’s going to the last game you can already tell that. Just fingers crossed we get over the line and then - imagine the stadiums we could be visiting once again!

Sounds like a very promising signing this!! Hopefully we can wrap Toal in cotton wool during the week whilst Santos recovers and Toal can rest before the run-in

Matheson is surely going out on loan? and maybe another departure?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:46 pmYou almost hope it's business done. We are full, so any more means another knock we've not heard about.
If not this is surely the biggest squad we've had in a while.
We're allowed 22 registered players excluding keepers.
Jones, Iredale, Santos, Dacres-Cogley, Forrester, Toal, Ashworth, Matheson, Ogbeta, Ramsay.
Thomason, Sheehan, Morley, Maghoma, Dempsey, Williams.
Collins,Mendes Gomes, Bodvarson, Charles, Nlundlu, Adeboyejo, Jerome.
I make that 23 unless we deregister Nlundlu with Johnston already off the list.
Perhaps Matheson and or another are departing but I would be surprised if we see another in.

Hats off to the club, an excellent Jan window in the end, all 4 are very good players.
There will be no more questions from me in regards to the Bond funds. They (FV, Evatt, Markham etc.) have been clever and saved some money to see where we are in Jan and have now provided the funds to try and get us promoted.
Well done.

Salford perhaps a likely destination for Matheson given they just lost a RB to Wrexham?

Under 21 at the start of the calandar year which makes Taylor( Whom I forgot to add to said list above) and Ramsay the only players who qualify out of that list.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:58 pmU21s don't need to be registered.DJBlu wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:54 pmMatheson is surely going out on loan? and maybe another departure?

We're at 22 with everyone currently here.

Seems some Bristol Rovers fans are really miffed at seeing Collins going.

Sorry, you're counting Matheson? I don't think that's correct, is it? I'm aware I'm not 100%, so it may be.
He was 20 at the start of the season and isn't 22 until next season, so I'd be surprised if he needs registering.
He does seem to be going on loan anyway.

3 October 2002 (age 21). He's 21 as of Jan 1st 2024 not start of the season hence why I think he's off on loan.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 4:17 pmSorry, you're counting Matheson? I don't think that's correct, is it? I'm aware I'm not 100%, so it may be.

Surprised JDB isn't going anywhere though.

Still fourth choice centre-forward and thus likely to appear in most games.

Interestingly, the Luke Matheson loan may turn out to be a Khumbeni loan - who has gone to Morecambe.
Here's hoping it's because we've secretly agree a first option on Adam Mayor...not how things tend to work anymore, but still.
The irony of us loaning a black player to Morecambe is not entirely lacking, it must be said.
