Down to the O-zone. Away to Fleetwood Friday Dec 297h 7-45.

Fervently hoping that we'll take the 0 out of our score-line and and give the Cod army something to remember us by this Christmas week. Let's not be fooled by the League position as it's just as easy to slip on a kipper as a banana. Cool heads and clinical and professional finishing are what we need to keep the Cods in order. Macks will doubtless be needed in Fleetwood and the evening kick-off perfect for a Tango in the Night, so cast the nets and step up to reel in these seaside shrimpers. Let's go Whites.. :oyea:

Last chance aswell to make headway on our newly broke record of goals in a calendar year. It would be nice to finish with a flourish but given the frequency of matches lately we can't be too surprised if the scoreline and indeed our performance is a bit tempered.

I seem to recall Fleetwood being frustrating shiphousers last time we played them. Not sure if that's changed.

^^ I'd be happy (well, less grumpy at any rate), with a frustrated 0-1 win, and another 3 points... :-)

Thought we stuck at it pretty well on Boxing Day, despite it being a bit frustrating at times.

With a 5000 plus ground capacity it will likely seem unfriendly with not much good will to all men, so we needn't feel bad about giving them a tanning. Cod fish is only good when battered and fried, but lets be careful. Keep the faith and pass the salt and vinegar.. :oyea:

Yeah it was frustrating at times. We played really well first half less well second half till the sending off then it was just waves of attack. We did that well.

Be delighted with a horrible scrappy 1-0 at Fleetwood so long as we are the 1. Right now winning every game is important as it sets the scene for the second half of the season.

Took my kids to Lincoln Cathedral today (glorious building) and left my son scribbling a message to put on their prayer wall. Odd, I thought, as he's not religious in any way.

As we were leaving he told me he'd written a prayer to Nat Lofthouse for a victory over Fleetwood.

So this could go one of two ways. Either Nat is listening and we'll win, or God is now pissed at the blasphemy and will smite us. Either way, guaranteed goalfest.

If this weather continues I've got doubts we'll actually be playing.

We play the next two games against the two worst defences in the division in terms of stats and two of the worst in terms of actual goals conceded.

I sincerely hope we play both :D

Nah, strong winds and light rain forecast. They catch kippers in much worse than that. :D

As the smell of he ozone wafts ever closer by the hour, Just a couple of things I like about Fleetwood: One is Tommy Fleetwood who is a golfer, but he was born in Southport, and two, Fleetwood Mac, the music group. The rest are immaterial unless eating Kippers or Fynnon Hadock.

On attack: In this league, strikers (Stockton and Alfie May to mention just two) can and do shoot at every opportunity. They also do it well. I just hope we adopt a slightly different approach to the open range at the back scenario we too often do. Try a bit of wolf-pack defending occasionally. Most of the teams we play adopt the two and three man tackling approach and do it effectively. We should sometimes learn from our opponents rather than the E.F.A " Here's how you do it)good guide to football". Occasionally, a bit of Real Moss Bank can be just as effective as Real Madrid..... COME ON YOU WHITES.. :oyea: :oyea :fishing:

It’ll be interesting to see how Il Capo rotates his team today given the short turnaround.

It would be quite the surprise if Dion didn’t start, but he did play the full 90 on Tuesday, so I’m guessing the plan is to at least reduce his minutes today. I don’t think a Bod and Vic starting partnership is likely in Evatt’s thinking.

In midfield I’d expect Sheehan to replace Morley and Dempsey to start alongside Thomason.

At the back I think we see Iredale come in, and possibly Forrester for Toal, as I doubt Jones will miss out given he’s then going to be away for a month.

Baxter

Jones Santos Forrester

Sheehan

JDC Dempsey Thomason Iredale

Dion Vic

1-3 to the Super Whites

Couldn't get tickets for today so will be slumming it on Wanderers TV. Has it really been as bad lately as people have said?

I should think "surprise" might not be Dion's reaction if he doesn't. His work rate and attitude seem a bit inflexible (thankfully). Maybe "volatile" describes it better.. :D

Agree on The_Gun's lineup, with the exception of Toal, who I think will keep his place. Can't see him making 2 changes down the same side

Williams is a bit of a worry for me. He seems to have lost his edge and a bit short on confidence, almost like a player who's had a rasping tackle made on him and isn't keen to repeat the experience. Initially, I thought (hopefully) he might be a Fossey style wing back but up the left side . So far, that hope's faded a bit.

Feel like he's gone with a more experienced midfield behind Bod, which makes up for the loss of Vic's work. Which I think plays to Bod's strengths in the final third.

Bod and Charles were a lethal partnership before the former's injuries. Would love to see them get back to that level.

Shame for Iredale, but perhaps a chance for Ashworth.

I’m surprised he isn’t playing Victor tonight tbh as feels more like the sort of game that might suit him. Can’t imagine lots of space and more likely to be a case of someone backing in against a deep lying defence perhaps bringing some joy.

Also surprised Thomason isn’t given a rest here.
