Is it not entirely possible that we go with three up top? As in DC & VA with AC behind. I thought that was the entire purpose of signing CMG but it's not worked out so far (injuries, ANC). We bring in AC with CMG as the sub and we have an entirely different pathway when attacking.
It's definitely an option and as I say, Collins himself has mentioned the 10 role as if it's been discussed.

What worries me is when we're out of possession. Unless the new lad digs back like a good 'un, we've basically got a midfield four of which two are very high wingbacks. That puts a hell of a lot on the two central midfielders - one of whom is persuambly Sheehan, who has utterly revelled in playing behind the other two as a quarterback.

In essence, it's not a huge change to go from 3-1-4-2 to 3-4-1-2. We went the other way last spring, when Shoretire disappointed and Sheehan came back - we made the switch for the trip to Hillsborough and basically never looked back. But in our current form and with our current personnel, it would worry me hugely in transition. A good team will absolutely pick us apart on the break - and we might be hobbling Sheehan, whose importance as the creative hub is even more crucial without Santos.

Maybe one if we're chasing a game. Maybe one if we're expecting to face a low block at the Toughsheet. Not for every day, though...

Taylor and Maghoma both pulled up with cramp, could be something different. Didn't see anyone else struggle?

I was more surprised to see Maghoma pull up than Taylor (first time in how long that young Caleb has played that level of football for that length of time?) but the game as a whole on Saturday did seem to be higher paced than usual. Whether that's the missing influence of Rico at the back, I don't know...

Maybe Barnsley succeeded in their clear intent to kick Sheehan’s bollocks up his arse

Gethin is available but obviously he did a fair bit of travelling over the weekend – 16 or 17 hours – so we will have a look at how he is over the next 24 hours or so. He has trained today, and it is great to have him back.

There are one or two complications that we are still investigating from Saturday. These things all seem to come at once and we are having one of those spells at the moment but we have a good squad of players and we will utilise who we need to utilise. There are one or two things that we are investigating over the next day or so but post-game I have no doubt we can have another conversation.

Yeah, I thought it seemed faster paced on Saturday. Think that's why I thought it was a better watch overall.

Hope it's not Baxter. Didn't he need treatment at some point during the Barnsley match.

T.V. Commentary mentioned him hurting his hand. Hope it's trivial;

Forrester was getting a lengthy run through his paces pre -game, don't think he can be far off.

Players from both sides going down with cramp. It was one hell of a pace.

I'm going tomorrow, looking forward to it!

Baxter has a fractured finger if rumours are to be believed.

Coleman for the performances of his career?

Double saves against Blackpool in the penalties should settle some nerves?

Really not looking forward to this game tonight which means we'll probably win 5 nil.

The working assumption seems to be it’s Baxter. In which case fair play for playing on Saturday, hopefully he didn’t make it worse…

It's a rumour from some Twitter account. Gaffer is keeping the information close to his chest, so we won't know for certain until the team sheet is released.

Hopefully it's just Twitter bs then, because if he's fractured his finger he could be out for a few months.

Particularly if he continued to play with it for another hour on Saturday due to no replacement on the bench. :|

I hope so too - he played on of course on Saturday and carried on using his hands!

Is this one of those situations where we could sign a covering goalkeeper should Baxters injury turn out to be true?

Coleman obviously gets the nod in-between the sticks but he's had his injuries this season and would seem prudent to ensure cover. Maybe Hutchinson to come back into contention?
