The run-in (top 7....)

Post by Worthy4England » Sun Feb 04, 2024 1:38 pm

Just been having a peek at how often the top 7 play each other (as they're all above 50 points), Hopefully I got this right...

Pompey (5 matches out of 15 = 33%)
Oxford (h)
Peterborough (a)
Barnsley (h)
Derby (h)
Us (a)

Derby (4 matches out of 16 = 25%)
Stevenage (h)
Barnsley (a)
Us (h)
Pompey (a)

us (6 matches out of 18 = 33%) - obviously we also have our bogey team (a) which takes us much nearer 40% "big games"...
Barnsley (a)
Oxford (h)
Derby (a)
Stevenage (a)
Pompey (h)
Peterborough (a)

Peterborough (4 matches out of 17 = 23.4%)
Stevenage (h)
Portsmouth (h)
Oxford (a)
Us (h)

Barnsley (3 matches out of 17 = 18%)
Derby (h)
Bolton (h)
Pompey (a)

Stevenage (3 matches out of 18 = 17%)
Derby (a)
Peterborough (a)
Us (h)

Oxford (2 matches out of 16 = 12.5%)
Pompey (a)
Us (a)

Interesting stuff. Of course, every "big match" is a chance to wound a rival... which some clubs do more reliably than others.

Multiple post cos site only allows maximum of three pics per post.

In short: Pompey unbeaten; Derby very mixed; we've drawn too many home six-pointers; Posh score but concede and can thus go either way.

The other three matter less IMO but Barnsley & Oxford weak at home, Stevenage away.

I see that Blackpool v Peterborough semi final is on the 20th Feb.
Interestingly Blackpool play Peterborough on the 17th Feb and then we play Blackpool on the 24th Feb.
People haven't got a good word for you, but i have T**T.

Hadn't realised that. Makes you wonder what approach is going to be taken in those games as anyone putting in a meaty challenge may see the opposing player missing through injury in the match that'll see them through to Wembley.

All seems very positive from our point of view. Semi final should be a tough contested game that'll knacker both sides. Hopefully good enough to have an impact for the game on the 24th.

Thought I'd chuck this in here for anyone wanting to see our remaining fixtures in calendar form.

Just over 11 weeks left of the season. 18 games left to play, 8 at home, 10 away.

Forgot. Maybe it’s the incomplete brackets.

That's a very useful way of looking at our fixture congestion.

What incomplete brackets? :-) Yeah, merge them, or let this one die or whatever. :-)
