Thanks for a space on the couch, Blu!
JDC MotM for me. Thought Jones, Dempsey and Maghoma were good too. Bod great off the bench.

Switching the centre backs round looked to have confused us there - Toal lost the run but feck knows what Coleman was up to.
Still, 3 points and we were pretty calm and in control last twenty - deffo deserved the second, we’d had ample chances to create tap ins as well - some odd runs by the front two/poor crosses.

Great result but we need to find some form soon otherwise it'll be playoffs. JDC was 10/10.

Was never going to be a gimme so that'll do nicely. The end was farcial, the clock was a minute over the six added when the pen was given. Took he shine off a good win against a tough side but job done. Took the old boys to show the new ones how it's done. So glad Bod got his goal, smart thinking. Charles ran his walnuts off and was unlucky with us disallowed goal, but all in all. ..Maghoma might just edge M.O.T.M.

Don’t forget Wycombe beat Peterborough 5-2 on sat and we’ve just restricted them to a 97th brain fart penalty…(ok I didn’t see the first half)

Needed those 3 pts and we did it. Much better 2nd Half than the first. I thought Paris had his best game for us. He was involved throughout his time on the pitch rather than in patches. JDC was superb and DadBod showed how to control a ball under pressure. Happy for his goal and Jones header was superb. Collins showed intelligence with his movements and will be a handful once he gets on the same wavelength with his teamates, and they with him.
A tricky game against an in-form team and we won!

Indeed.
Placed in that context, it's a very good result.

I'm expecting quite a few games like this; it's the way it goes in this league. As for J.D.B'S back-heel goal, in the words of the good Lady “A lucky guess is never merely luck. There is always some talent in it". "(Jane Austen. .Emma) How right you are Madame, how right you are..

Results:
Pompey 3-1 Cambridge
Exeter 0-3 Derby
BW 2-1 Wycombe
Shrewsbury 1-1 Barnsley
Posh P-P Vale
Stevenage 2-3 Bristol Rovers
Oxford 4-2 WIgan
Stevenage lose from 2-0 up at home, to let Oxford back into the playoffs. But as I say we should be looking up not down.
. To Dibs' point: at the moment we're on course for 95pts, Derby 90.5, Pompey 96...

Just watching the highlights and I've done Coleman a disservice, he made some really good saves in that first half.
That said some of the saves were needed due to his prior actions.

The Peterborough goalkeeper has a lot to do with that. He's at fault for at least 3 of their 5 goals and has no doubt caused plenty of problems for them.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 9:56 pmDon’t forget Wycombe beat Peterborough 5-2 on sat and we’ve just restricted them to a 97th brain fart penalty…(ok I didn’t see the first half)
Thankfully Coleman seems to be doing a reasonably good job of standing in for Baxter.

Thought Coleman had a good game until his moment of madness. Back three were solid enough, Jones was very good. JDC was great, and was a better RWB than Sadlier was a LW. Ogbeta looked decent going forward, had a trick or two, but could do with more #ContentDownload
Hope Dion's not too badly injured. Collins showed some good touches without ever looking genuinely threatening. Vic and Bod both looked pretty good when they came on, and thrilled that Bod got his goal.
On the midfield - I spent the first half pretty frustrated with all three. Morley wasn't as bad as he has been but sits on our own defender's toes, without ever looking like he's going to put a tackle in. Maghoma frustrates me with his decision making. Dempsey wasn't seeing a lot. In the 2nd half all three upped their game, and Dempsey in particular started looking a threat.
Oh, and the Thunderclap - people of Bolton (particularly the North Stand), it's thump-thump CLAP. There's two drumbeats before the clap. Get it right or don't f*cking bother!

I'll take the win, thanks chaps. Delighted JDB got off his duck. Not vintage, but I'm sure we said last year our ability to eek out some scappy wins was missing..so there we have one. 3 points.

Someone on twitter says that Dion was holding his MCL which the gaffer also says "We'll have to wait and see"
"The medial collateral ligament (MCL) runs from the inside surface of the upper shin bone to the inner surface of the bottom thigh bone. This ligament keeps your shin bone (tibia) in place. The MCL is usually injured by pressure or stress on the outside part of the knee."
Make of that what you will.
