Law 12:

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off.

Referee must be considering that to be an attempt to not play the ball in order to send off Santos.

Santos will play on Tuesday
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

BTW Barnsley winning not necessarily a good thing - quite a realistic bet to finish above us!
Only 3pts and a goal behind us now from same games. But we have to hope Derby balls up when we do.
Given we’ll play and probably lose there…
Aye, some big games coming up.

How can this group of people excellent players be managed so poorly as to achieve such awful results against bang average teams?

Charlton - conceded three. Today 4.

Something is wrong and I’m not having it brushed under the carpet again. When the going gets tough Evatt sides fall apart.

Aye - it's happened too often.

Well, FT. Just keeping an eye on Barnsley then I'll be off here for a bit as I can see a tsunami of arse-gravy coming.

This will certainly be the first time Evatts failed to hit a season target - plus the striker he convinced the board to sign hasn’t exactly helped. We needed four points from this and Tuesday I thought - possibly 3. But what we didn’t need was a massive dicking against a team in the play offs… feels pretty season defining this… :-/
I’m not gonna post much more on it cos I CBA, life’s too short!

Mate we’ve lost 4-1 and had our returning captain who we pinned all our hopes on sorting out the leaky back line sent off, plus there’s no sign of the only keeper we have that has a brain cell. Oh and it’s the irritants from up the road who generally smash us off the park every game next up!. I’m not feeling the ‘could be worse’ vibe 🤣

Small point of order - they're 4pts below the pips... :?

FT Barnsley 2-1 Derby. Chink of light on a rainy day.

All I want is some bottle. Some guts. Some genuine men who stand up and see this through. I know people wax on about Sheehan but for me he’s a flat track bully. When sides put it on him and those sides are half decent he disappears and we lose midfield and any grip.

We need a big change on Tuesday. A new system. Something that injects some energy and confuses Wigan. Turn up with the lazy system we have now and it could be another hammering. We need to be more compact. Less open.

Barnsley joining the race for the autos doesn't feel like a positive. They got games in hand and can get to Derby territory with some wins.

Yeah, just adds to the competition for second (which doesn’t feel attainable at the moment anyway)

Was trying to put our shit game into context. Doesn't really change too much from previous weeks where we've not had Santos. In terms of where we are in relation to automatic spots we're only a point worse off than before when comparing against Portsmouth.

Feels worse because Santos was supposed to come back and sort things out.

Unless we massively step up our game instantly the top two are way out of our reach. We look no more than scraping play offs the way we are playing and given how much we bottle the big games the slump at this time is very worrying.

Tuesday is season defining now. And I know we get the usual suspects claiming otherwise but mentally I think if we get beat Tuesday then you can wave any hope of top two away and probably even winning the playoffs. It’s that pivotal now. Two derby defeats in a week after a run of indifferent results I think kills the season.
