McAtee's on loan from Evatt's mate Edwards at Luton. Bear in mind that last season he was loaned to Grimsby and scored 4 in 32. Cole was a free transfer in summer 2021 and in his first (Championship) season for Barnsley he scored 1 in 24. Better last season, like - 15 in 45 - but ten bob says there'd have been grumbles had we signed McAtee last summer or Cole the summer before.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:30 pmHow much did mcatee and Cole cost? Bear in mind our front two cost over a million quid.

We need to do something different that’s for sure. Doing the same thing against a team that very much have our number feels like the scoreline will finish Bolton nil.

Fair enough. The nicest thing I can say about our front two is that Collins might need a bit more time to settle. And the lads on the bench 🫣Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:39 pmMcAtee's on loan from Evatt's mate Edwards at Luton. We need to be quicker and braver. I’d like to see how Paris does here, but fear he’s also one to lose the ball. Still, have to take risks or we’re losing the game.

We can't cope when teams press us and can't cope when they do a low block. Ultimately, we can't cope when playing away to a half decent side.

When Barnsley signed Cole though he was a similar age to Vic and Dan and had more league goals than either of them (and I think combined).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:39 pmMcAtee's on loan from Evatt's mate Edwards at Luton. Man, this pub's miserable. I don't think we were that bad, arguably shading it till we conceded by trying to play it out from the back. Barnsley's tails are up but let's see what we can tweak at half time.
Maghoma is an option - perhaps for Thomason, given his yellow peril - but obviously it won't change yet. Williams too off the bench. But as Dibs says, there's not really a forward on the bench you can imagine changing much. We're hanging on for Dion's return, but we have to go with what we've got for now. Possibly Bod *might* be better with the ball than Vic's been, but recent sub shows don't spark confidence.

Yeah I’m not suggesting we could have signed Cole. But he always was, is and will be a much better player than Vic or Dan. We just have to accept that.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:42 pmAnd they were in the Championship.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:42 pmWhen Barnsley signed Cole though he was a similar age to Vic and Dan and had more league goals than either of them (and I think combined).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:39 pmMcAtee's on loan from Evatt's mate Edwards at Luton. I don’t know what we can do up front but these two aren’t working. I can’t imagine Bod changes much either. And Jerome….well….

I agree DSB - we’ve played ok. Better than last week. I fear we might give it up second half like we did last week but equally we might come out and have a good go.
I don’t mind losing to better teams - which we are doing. It’s a shame they have got better over the season and we are getting worse - we’ve had some bad luck but there is a lack of confidence I think, lack of belief.

I think this is fair. We've been reasonable, not much in it. Conceding in the way we did is a set back but not completely against our expectations for the match. The players will have been trained for this scenario, so we should be able to settle and go again.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:42 pmMan, this pub's miserable. I'd say Maghoma on for Thomason's a fair shout. I'd be quite happy to give Vic and Collins the full 90 here.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 8:42 pmMaghoma is an option - perhaps for Thomason, given his yellow peril - but obviously it won't change yet. We're really missing the likes of Charles, N'lundulu and Gomes for their pace. We've got hold up players in abundance (Jerome, Bod, Vic) but we're definitely missing their counterparts. Hopefully Collins will get up to speed, at the minute, we look like a team that struggles to use our own strategy because we're missing an ingredient.

Randell and Maghoma probably our best options on the bench. Hope Dions fit soon!

Well, that start hasn’t filled me with confidence!

I think the last few what 8? games are simple to understand, we're just shit in both boxes, everything else is pretty decent.
