You score 0 of the shots not taken. Weve had plenty of games this season where we've had loads of shots and plenty of games where we seem a bit shy of shooting.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 7:54 pmMost goals per shots and still we are not happy at a lack of killer instinct. What an infuriating team!
The contrast is stark and sure, it's not always going to work but it's certainly something noticeable the drop off. Had we been more prone to shooting in those struggling games maybe we would've got more. Instead we look to create the best shooting opportunity rather than settling for a few that may unsettle the opposition but not necessarily have the best chance of going in.
When it works, good chance of a goal. When it doesn't work we could do with rattling the opposition.
There's no metrics for tracking that though.
Goals conceded definitely our achilles heel this season

Well, the big days here. We're Bolton, and Peterborough/Wednesday last year should confirm that nowts decided tonight, whatever happens.
Sadly struck out, again, on trying to get tickets for this one, so a nervy day at work followed by watching on the box from behind a cushion.
Time to step up boys and show the nation what we're capable of.

With your patchy away form, HG, not getting a ticket might be a bonus! (Sorry to hear, though)Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 8:39 amWell, the big days here. We're Bolton, and Peterborough/Wednesday last year should confirm that nowts decided tonight, whatever happens.

Terrible weather darn sarth this morning but I'm still fired up for the match tonight. Hopefully the weather up north isn't so bad that it impacts our ability to knock the ball about.
In a sign that perhaps the League One playoff semi-finals are not registering too much on the national scene, when booking a table at the sports bar at London Bridge station I was asked which sport Barnsley vs Bolton was.

Haha! I still haven’t got an answer to my 18th May dilemma but will worry about that if I need to come next Tuesday! I think it will be close tonight. Draw most likely result.

Nothing screams "sports bar" like asking such a question...!The_Gun wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 10:15 amTerrible weather darn sarth this morning but I'm still fired up for the match tonight. Hopefully the weather up north isn't so bad that it impacts our ability to knock the ball about.

Mind it's been 9 years since anyone down South won anything serious apart from 1 FA Cup last decade and West Ham being "Champions of Europe" (U12's division)...

Fair. This season, my record was in danger of straying into Lever End Jonah type territory but I was there for the two thumping wins at Cheltenham and Carlisle.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 9:57 amWith your patchy away form, HG, not getting a ticket might be a bonus! Expecting a physical midfield battle where Maghoma and Sheehan are cut down at any opportunity by Conell et al. Gotta keep our heads, the press, and stretch them giving Collins some space to assist Charles. Be reet.

Twill no doubt be a less than friendly affair. when Lancs and Yorks clash swords, ( although probably few of either come from locally or remember Brian Statham or Fred Truman.?) But the fans are true Eccles cake or Parkin supporters although no Yorkie has ever chucked a spud over the viaduct at Darcy Lever. I've sampled a few of the amateur grounds in the Yorkshire Leagues in my time and "Far from the Madding Crowd " doesn't even come near it. Any how, the time has come for action and jackets off, so get at em lads and fight the good fight. Que Sera as ever...
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Predictions? Tight 1-1 tonight, for me. But I think we’ll win 2-0 at home.

The couch is up and running. Someone selfishly has a birthday in our family and I have to attend this evening. I'll monitor it however can't make any promises it'll stay up. If I can get another method sorted before the celebration then I will as it's more chance of surviving the "weather" if you know what I mean.

Just want to win this tonight. Any margin will do. Obviously failing that don’t lose.
But I think tonight there will be more spaces to play in than there will be on Tuesday. We’ve played Barnsley 4 times at home in the last two seasons and not won any of them. 5 if you go back to the season before and league cup tie we drew 0-0 in but won on penalties.
I do think winning tonight really means it forces them to open up Tuesday and completely changes the game.
If they can keep it tight Tuesday I fear this doesn’t look much different to our recent experiences against them at home.

I can't shake off this horrible feeling that we're going to have an absolute horror show of a first 15 minutes and be 3 down

Only happens if we aren’t switched on and up for it. And there is no excuse for that. Have to show serious intensity and match them physically. That’s football. You have to earn the right to play. Win the physical battles first.boltonboris wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 4:58 pmI can't shake off this horrible feeling that we're going to have an absolute horror show of a first 15 minutes and be 3 down
