Re: Pre-season, 2024(/25)
Did we get any ticket information for Boro yet?
Re: Pre-season, 2024(/25)
Fiorentina at home is a big friendly to get. Should create a bit of excitement.
Re: Pre-season, 2024(/25)
Fiorentina is a great get for at home.
I did mention it would be nice to get a European friendly in the Marc Iles questionnaire, so maybe the club is listening after all. Or maybe this was in the offing for quite some time. Either way, it's a nice get and a decent reminder of European campaigns past.
As for Fiorentina...
Finished 8th in Serie A.
Semi Finals in the Coppa Italia.
Semi Finals in the Supercoppa Italiana.
Runners up in the UEFA Europa Conference League (116th minute defeat)
That's quite the pedigree.
Win or lose, it'll be a decent challenge for the squad.

It is indeed a prestige team to invite. There'll be upwards of 4,000 on for that one, around 40% of them booing the captain and manager.

They’re playing Preston 24hrs later so may be a bit of a mixed team, with trialists (trialista’s?) and youth playersDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 11:20 amIt is indeed a prestige team to invite. Much nearer 50% if you go for the larger sample on WW.
I think they'll hold their powder for a friendly.
Did I dream we've played Fiorentina previously in a friendly or maybe some other sort of cup.

They were in the other half of the Anglo Italian thingy in '93. Didn't play them. We played Brescia and Ancona I think. I remember at the time thinking it was dead exotic us playing forriners

Yeah those two certainly, but thought we'd played them in a pre-season in maybe the noughties....thought I recalled purple, but I might just be having a David Icke moment.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 6:47 pmThey were in the other half of the Anglo Italian thingy in '93. I think there were rumours we were about to play a friendly against them last season before it fell apart at the last minute.

Re: Pre-season, 2024(/25)
Well beaten by Boro by the looks of it. Three nowt. Santos big error for the first from the looks of Iles updates. Oh and Dempsey is now injured, and water is wet.

Lots of work ahead by the looks of it.

Injury crisis in pre season. Another consistent Evatt factor. How are we getting players injured so consistently in training for years and why hasn’t anything been done about it?

In fairness, we have been trying to suggest such a rebellious thing..officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 8:13 pmYou can add robust to leadership qualities for our hopeful incomings… :-/
