Blackpool Rock. At Home to the Seasiders Sat 23 Nov. 12-30..

Post by TANGODANCER » Mon Nov 18, 2024 3:46 pm

A week with no football talk is too long, so making an early start on the visitors from not far away. Lancashire lads all. An early reminder of the 12-30 KICK-OFF.....and off we go.

We have to make sure there's no slackness at stake here as every game's still critical, and no love's ever been lost between the Whites and the Promenaders. Just a few point separate a whole cluster of chasers and nobody wants to lose ground. In short, what others do matters not, just what we do. Still a big element of nerves hanging over our lads, so it's time to make our mission statement loud and clear. Strictly Ballroom it won't be so bring it on Mr Bruce. We should have a stronger side available than for a while, so let's give the visitors a rousing Welcome to Bolton... :Jedi:

The song, I do like to be beside the sea side, doesn't really ring true for us as of late. Thankfully, this game is at the not-so-sunny Middlebrook where our results have been significantly more reasonable.

Feels like we owe them a good turning over given we lost 4-1 against them and got knocked out of the FLT on pens.

We need a win to keep our hopes of getting promoted. Anything less and it's groundhog day all over again. Blackpool haven't won for quite some time. I expect us to do the Robin Hood thing and give to the needy, but Bolton subverting expectation is a thing we've done previously. It's anyone's guess which Bolton will turn up.

Tme's up. The reality is we're playing Blackpool, not Barcelona and at our territory. .Right, No excuses for anything except a clear win, just none, none,none.. Football's all about getting one goal more than the opposition and always has been regardless of all else and our unforgetable 1-0 beating of Man City after they wiped the floor with us back then is the undeniable proof. No talk then, just get stuck into Blackpool knowing they'll go all out to beat us. That, we can't have so up and at em . Nowt else matters. :Jedi:

I just don't care anymore, and given the lack of responses to this thread maybe that's more broadly felt by the fans? I have zero excitement for this game or this season. I'll watch, out of habit but I honestly can't be arsed with them.

Can't agree with that Spartan. I'm always excited for home games, although there were a few in that last Championship season that tested my resolve.

I really fancy us for Saturday. Big crowd, a side that doesn't do well here, with a manager who doesn't do well here and with several injuries. No excuses but I don't think we'll need any. 2-0 win.

I’m in favour of a change of coach, but if Evatt is staying then I hope the team responds to the Stockport defeat and we go on a long winning run. If we smash Blackpool on Saturday then I might be somewhat back on side, but only somewhat.

Who was meant to be back after the international break? I think definitely Tutu and Thomason, but unsure about CMG and Toal.

Tutu came on against Stockport then played no part in the Fleetwood game.
Gethin jones did 90 against Fleetwood and I’m expecting he starts against Blackpool.

Tutu is a fitness liability I think…whether that’s us not managing him right or a problem he has I don’t know but I’ll be surprised to see him play any part this weekend.

CMG will need some game time before he’s anywhere near the first team.

Toal and the crock centre back we signed are out until Jan.

Toal’s out until Jan? Fack.

Tomorrow I’d go:

Baxter

Jones Santos Johnston

Sheehan Matete

JDC Thomason Schön

Charles Collins

If Dion is too knackered after international exertions then McAtee.

It's hard to get overly excited as a result of our recent failings but i'm still excited to see us play. It's just any excitement gets tempered with the narrative of 'its all for nought'.

We need to get a feeling of upward momentum. We can do that by beating the top teams in the league. Beating Blackpool after last season's abject performance would go someway towards correcting that defeat and the 5-0 at Stockport.

We might win a few then Wigan will batter us. It’s the inescapable cycle.

Blackpool haven’t won a league game since September. They aren’t very good. Nothing like the team we beat here last season narrowly or who battered us at their place. That was an ok league one side.

If we can’t win today then pack it up.
