Re: Brexit or Britin
Tory voter or not, we're talking about a new Prime Minister, something that effects us all equally. The idea that Johnson could become PM is as frightening as the notion of President Trump.Worthy4England wrote:That's where I am with it, probably the same for Osborne too. Which is why I think there needs to be a reshuffle should Brexit win (don't believe there should need to be a General Election). Someone needs to be accountable for the promises they've made. I do understand your concern regarding legitimate successors, but I think that's almost irrelevant (other than maybe if you happen to be a Conservative voter ).Bruce Rioja wrote:Interesting question. Genuinely, if Brexit wins then I think that Cameron's position becomes untenable, however, I really don't see a suitable successor within the party (with the exception of William Hague, but that's not going to happen). I don't see how Cameron could possibly act on the promises made by Brexit having nailed his colours so firmly to the mast.Worthy4England wrote:Genuine question - do you think Cameron could reasonably held to account for the promises made by Brexit?Bruce Rioja wrote:Aye, and was replaced by John fecking Major. Similarly, I don't see there being a suitable replacement within the Tory party should they oust Cameron.Worthy4England wrote: Thatcher was also "ousted" whilst in office

Re: Brexit or Britin
An admission. Last election ( a tad unwillingly) I voted Tory for the first time in years simply because sense-wise there was no feasible option to Cameron at the time. Sadly, the status quo remains unmoved. There are still no sensible options. In or out of the EU, we still need a government and the thought of a totally honest one emerging from any direction is as likely as that knob walloper, Ronaldo, becoming Iceland's personality of the year.

Aye - don't disagree particularly. Mind, there's Michael Gove, John Redwood ran once over, didn't he?Bruce Rioja wrote: Tory voter or not, we're talking about a new Prime Minister, something that effects us all equally. That's going a bit too far. At least with Boris he'd press the red button accidentally whilst explaining his latest barmy scheme. Whereas Trump would press it because he want to start a fight with someone.Bruce Rioja wrote: Tory voter or not, we're talking about a new Prime Minister, something that effects us all equally. Fookin hell, there's some scary shit on Facebook tonight from the outers. We're talking stuff that makes Hoboh's ramblings sound well thought out, rational and eminently sensible the sooner we introduce some sort of competency to vote test the better!

For what it's worth, the relatively small technology company I work for would struggle without our highly competent EU employees. We've currently got a Dane, a German, a Spaniard, a Norwegian and a Pole on the books. We've also had recent employees from France, Turkey, Italy, Ireland and Greece as well as others from the countries already mentioned. We've tried to hire staff from Britain but we often struggle to do so, typically because we can't find people with the appropriate skill set. (A couple of years ago we even had to look to India to get a software tester.) From what I gather we're not unusual in this respect.

So most of Brexit's support is from thick, knuckle dragging, swivel eyed, lambrini swigging tykes?

I thought everyone in Scotland were demanding to stay in the EU or else. According to that they're only a bit bothered. Does wee Jimmy Krankie know this?

They're all too busy doing mid-life crises to be bothered about the EU...Gary the Enfield wrote:Erm, do the 40 to 49ers not count?

Ha, most of them are way beyond believing anything the govenrment claim one way or the other. What our leaders can manage to xxxx up in four years is the reason people buy dogs and go cycling, fell walking and painting nature. We gave all the T-shirts and books to charity shops long ago.Gary the Enfield wrote:Erm, do the 40 to 49ers not count?

I guess that they don't appear (in the polling) to be significantly one way or the other - so they don't appear...
