Anyway, for as shit as 2016 was on several fronts, I'll take huge contentedness from it having been the year in which I ran (and completed) my first ever 10K race, aged 50.

If it wasn't for us egging each other on then I doubt that I ever would have. Cheers guys, let's keep at it.

2016 was brilliant for me too. Ironman and a succession of pb's culminating in a 10 mile pb just yesterday. Concentrating on shorter distances so looking forward to joining you #toaman on a few parkruns and unlimited sausage. X

Very well done on both fronts, mate.

There's talk of us trying to step it up to the Bolton Half this year. That's going to require a concerted effort on my part.

If I can do that then I'll be rewarding myself with this.

2016 was probably my best running year too. No injuries, 2 ultra marathons, a trail marathon and countless fell races. Got my eye on a couple of races this year but looking forward to lots more park runs which have become a cornerstone of my training regime.

I too managed my first 10k in 2016, albeit after a 'slight' stumble towards the end. Followed by another couple in 'training' in the last 2 weeks of the year.

New Years Eve saw me run my 31st parkrun after struggling with injuries. My aim for this year is to reach 50 parkruns and push on from there. Number 32 may have to wait a few weeks, as I hurt my back dancing later on New Years Eve, or more precisely about 3am on New Years Day! #shouldknowbetteratmyage
