Re: The athletics/running thread
Did Genshaw get a lock-in then?
Anyway, 38 seconds quicker than last week and the fifth successive week in which I've managed to improve my time on the previous one.
Now bring on the Central Lancs tomorrow

Well in on the time though. 38 seconds is a great achievement. You going to aim for breaking your pb this year?

Haha. Piss-head
Cheers mate. Definitely want to aim for my PB on the current track (my official PB is from the old, easier track).
Oh, bumped into CAPSLOCK yesterday who's been doing a bit over the past couple of months. Says he might come down and join us.

How's everyone getting on?
Training for Hyde Park 10km and Paddock Wood half marathon at the end of March.
Having to take a week off though as I have Quadricep tendonitis.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I've been doing pretty well. Last couple of times I've done my 5k I've stopped and done 5x hill sprints of about 100m. It's a hill steep enough that most cyclists are going up at walking pace.
Then last week fancied a long run and managed a hilly 9k in 43 mins which I was happy with. Our football season finishes this week and hoping to pop my parkrun cherry after that.

Good work. So about 48 minutes for the 10km?
Not too shabby.

Hoping that my back,s fixed enough to run on Saturday. Will ask the Osteopath on Wednesday for his thoughts.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2017 9:28 pmHow's everyone getting on?

Re: The athletics/running thread
Just got back into it. Been going to the gym for a couple of months and I think squats, deadlifts and calf raises have helped strengthen my achilles. Did a flat 10k on Saturday in just under an hour, wasn't going all out and my PB is around 53 minutes for 10k, so thankfully I haven't lost *that* much fitness despite not running consistently since October.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2017 9:28 pmHow's everyone getting on?

Re: The athletics/running thread
Still getting jip in my lower back. After my last run was cut short after 200m, I've gone back to basics and am concentrating on walking and heating and stretching. Aiming to build up distances and progress to jogging, then increasing pace and distance a km at a time. Seemed to work the last time!Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2017 9:28 pmHow's everyone getting on?

Re: The athletics/running thread
Osteopath said that if I'm not getting any jip walking then there's no harm in giving a run a go. Think I'll do a v. short one round here tomorrow night (1 to 2K) just to see how it goes and call it from there.

Haven't done it yet but if it's going to be anything like me running across the road this morning then it isn't looking good

Re: The athletics/running thread
First post bad back parkrun this morning along with LeverEnd. C0 Codamoled up (does that make me a drugs cheat? ) recorded my slowest ever time at LHP, but hey, it's a (re) start.
Brekkie at Watermillock was a 4ucking disgrace, btw.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Well done you fecking not rights.
Tough weekend for me. 5km Saturday morning. 21.36 on a hilly muddy course. 32 seconds outside my pb. Still want to break 21 minutes on this course but it's a bastard of a thing.
Sunday I ran a 10k race in Hyde Park with a bunch from work. Managed 44.19 which was okay. Bizarrely 32 seconds outside my pb here too. Nice flat course though.
Calfs are in bits today. Going to rest this week as it's Paddock Wood half marathon next Sunday.

Need to run Tuesday and Thursday this week to get back on track. As LE pointed out, PR at Preston this week followed by a recommended brekkie at Rivvy Barn.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Two runs into another comeback and feeling the effects of a very busy weekend and no proper runs this year. Deliberately limiting the distances at the moment, but found 2k embarrassingly tough on my legs this evening. No back pain though, which is a good sign.
Hopefully ready for a slow, flat PR (Worsley?) in a week or two. Fingers (and everything else) crossed.
