Is Johnny Vegas funny?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

He likes a Guiness, but does he make you smile?

Yes. Yes he does. Laugh with a capital L.

Err no. I'd rather laugh at a defeat from Middlesbrough.

Couldn't care less. The guy has a fake St Helens accent anyway.

This guy is hilarious, very blunt humour and offends a lot of people ( usually over 45) lol But still hilarious.

I go for hidden option d, which is he's funny now and again.

Sometimes he just gets too annoying.

He's one of these people that I end up watching, hoping that he'll make me laugh. However, he never does (see also Harry Hill and Roland Riveron).

If I thought that someone being a loud, drunken gobshite was funny then I'd just need to walk into the pub at the bottom of my street and have the time of my life as that appears to be full of them.

That bit he did at the comedy awards was pure comedy genius. I've never seen Jonathon Ross so completely stumped!!

Then I think back to his now cancelled show on channel five.

Mmmmm I guess he is funny in the right environment.

I always thought him and Peter Kay were the same person.

Until I saw Bill Bailey.

Can't help thinking of Johnny Vegas as a millennium version of Tony Hancock; a manic-depresive hiding behind humour.

But Tango, surely you have to be humerous in the first place. I do take your point, fella, and in part agree. It's just that with Vegas I get the impression that it's more a case of 'laugh at me, and what a cock I am' as he lacks the requisite ability to make people laugh with him.

Hmm. See what you mean Bruce but Hancock, brilliant at making us laugh always thought himself a loser in reality. I see Vegas as a sort of sad court-jester who's resigned to his inability to get his act together and glorifies it for a living, so I guess we agree in general. I certainly wouldn't turn out to watch him for free, but that's just me.

Real comediens, like Monkhouse and co, had an endless repetoire of funnies and could go on forever. Comediens like Peter Kay and Spikey are really funny for a couple of shows then it's as if their chosen material dries up and they run out of ideas and repetitiveness sets in. The only real stand-up comedien left is Billy Connelly. All the rest are handcuffed by over-zealous political correctness.
