Re: The athletics/running thread
Aye, heard this yesterday. My 'stepping back up to it' target was to be ready for the reopening of PR, which I'm on course for. Just have to keep it up on the mean streets of BL2, I guess. Bushy seems such a long time ago right now!

Re: The athletics/running thread
Unstoppable force (parkrun mafia) vs the immovable object (local government bureaucracy).
Feels there is something under the surface here, the stories are obviously coming from parkrun themselves which I doubt local councils, who have an in-tray fuller than the inside of the boozers will be by five today, are too fond of. Parkrun's zeal certainly helped it spread and become what it is today, however, getting approval for one or two parkruns each week is a dwarfed by the task of getting thousands of LAs and landowners to agree, in a relatively short timeframe. And I imagine that zeal turns to frustration quickly as the reality of the task kicks in. Does feel a bit that parkrun is stood in the queue at the GP, looking at their watch and sighing 'I've been waiting here thirty bloody minutes...'
If they get approval for the ones in and around THAT LONDON I think we will get the go ahead, otherwise I don't think it will be too soon after if it's postponed that it comes back. It's gone from a nice health wotsit to a political football, and the political pressure to open it will tell. Tenner says someone starts calling it 'our parkrun' in the next few weeks.

Put your tenner on David Davis! He can call it what he wants if he gets it going again.KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 11:27 amTenner says someone starts calling it 'our parkrun' in the next few weeks.

I was told that the landowners of Cuerden Valley have told Parkrun to do one, when it resumes. There is a God!

London, ruining it for everyone else since 2001.
Not sure why it's a uniform blank across the capital. Half of me things there will be a co-ordinated 'yes' on the day parkrun said they'll announce whether it can go ahead or not :/

Back to Pilates tomorrow for me, looking forward to some gentle exercise and stretching. Feel this may be the way forward now and I’m too old for running, football and triple jump. Bowls here I come!

Having taken a look at the new course and realised how close to the finish, the second time up Cruella now is, I can safely say I have absolutely no chance of a sprint finish! Safe to say that my PB days are well and truly behind me!

I looked at that map a few times and couldn't suss out where it started, where it takes us or where it finishes. They still haven't suggested standing on the start line in roughly the place you expect to finish.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:41 pmBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:19 amBolton PR re-routed.
