Wow! That must have been the most expensive four hours entertainment ever.

I didn't see it but the missus said it was awful (or something that meant the same thing)...

It occurred to me (just an idle thought) that the cost of this and Re-building Notre Dame Cathedral could possibly have bought Algeria?

I have no interest whatsoever in mountain bike riding..So why did I watch a couple of hours of it on TV unable to switch off? Brit lad Tom Pidcock was fancied for a medal and now I know why. Guts, super fitness and a big chunk of courage are needed to do this crazy life-threatening sport. Our lad Tom led most of the way, then got a puncture. The team changed his wheel ultra rapidly, but Tom was dropped down to ninth because of it. Out of it? don't you believe it. Pidcock put the hammer down and caught and passed the lot of them till only the fancied French rider was left and then in a crazy burst of superhuman energy, raced past him too and led the way post the winning post. Oh how the partisan home crowd must have laughed at Tom's puncture; well, they're not laughing now. Such good sports they booed at is gold medal.

I won't be taking the sport up,(do they have Zimmer frame racing?) but that was one of the best couple of hours sport TV I've seen in a very long time. Utter magic. Watch it on B.B.C SPORT I Player if you can. :oyea:

So near and yet so far. How many races have been lost in the last ten metres? For our size, we've done great as a country, but we were so very near too many times. Well done all, there are no losers here.. :oyea:

My wife made me watch breaking. As it happened I quite enjoyed it. Everyone seemed to be have a great time, win or lose. A lot of strength and athleticism required. Oh well, it won't be there next time in LA.

Hi Monty. hope you are good. I drew the line at breaking whatever, but really enjoyed the mountain biking and skateboarding. . Such skill from young kids was amazing. The rest, Que Sera as ever.

Thanks Tango, all is fine. The wife gets her new knee on the 29th and will hopefully become a bit more mobile. She got her new replacement artificial hip in January and it has not dislocated like the other one used to do.

I was very surprised that I liked breaking which I had no intention of watching, and I agree about the other sports. Even wall climbing took some talent.

Take care.
