Erm. The roads around Inverness are ok as that is where the council is based. Different story over here...

Surprised never found much wrong from Durness down to the Applecross peninsula and we did manage to get just over the bridge on our last outing.
Still I'd guess that's to do with the NC500?
About the worst road we encountered was past the UK's remotest hotel but that was bumpy more than anything.

Generally the further from Inverness you get the less the council spend. We generate a lot of money for them on Skye, but they don't ;like spending much of it here despite being the 2nd most visited place in Scotland.

Bit like down south in England and the North then :D

Actually, not trying to drag this out, in our experience, if there has been previously heavey rain, the gravel and muck that washes over the Highland roads does, how can one say, make it slightly interesting.

Had a trip round to Cromarty yesterday and found probably the best bakery in Scotland, it was excellent.
Funny thing is we got talking to another English couple from Derby who raved about it as well.

Have you spotted the 'Scottish' premium yet? I buy in a lot of what are classed as fine foods and the Scottish ones are always a fair bit more expensive. Even basics like chicken and eggs cost more.

Honestly A t, I was actually shocked at how cheap the prices were. I'm guessing it's to do with all the local based business. Cromarty, despite having a nice small front on which to sit, hardly seemed like tourist central.

A lot of producers take the piss. We have higher operating costs due to location, but still.

Decent weather over there? Glorious morning here.

Yeah, it's nice here too, sunshine and broken cloud, warming up, light wind. Will have a smallish local ride out today probably 100, 120 miles or so.
Good job you don't get jailed for killing flying insects, I'd be on a whole life tariff, constantly having to clean the visor.

Had a trip out to Portmahomack, lovely little place then hopped up to Tarbet Ness lighthouse, got some stunning pics there. Not busy places weekdays this time of year would dread to think what that little road is like in the summer/sunny weekends.

Just come home in an ambulance after a week in dock due to a clumsy fall. Awful time as Bolton hospital don't heed temperature control and every night was like trying to sleep in a greenhouse. I don't seem to have missed much re team change etc, but I ain't going back in there ever. After discharge I waited eleven hours via doctors, nurses and ambulances. Theyr'e wonderful folk but Im plain worn out. Ah we,, back to Come on you Whites. I'll catch up tomorrow..

Nowt worse than the heat inside that place. I don’t know why hospitals have to be so hot. But hope you are recovering ok.

Thanks all for the good wishes, and yes Hobes, the Doc made some worrying comments but I hit my neck on a Zimmer frame and the wife had to get the ambulance out. Credit to them for speed but the M.R.I. Scan (How I hated that) showed nothing life threatening thank the Lord.

Okay, just had a nights sleep and feeling much better, so back to the footy... :oyea:

Brilliant news you are home, your right, hospitals are far too warm and bloody noisy. After my liver operation when I came out of IC in Manchester Royal the ward was over the ambulance entrance to A&E, you couldn't sleep for the flashing blue lights bouncing round ths room. Oh, and don't go down the food route, one spoonful of cardboard cornflakes did for me, coffee was just about bearable.
