Think we're short here but not by anywhere near are much as the commentary team who thought you'd need 280-300. India big favourites but it won't be easy to get them. Not a pitch where anyone has scored quickly and it's got demons in it now. Big innings for Bashir coming up.
There is a substantial class difference in what they have to face though. Pace and spin they have the better attack. Broad, Jimmy and Swann we’d win this.

We’ve played some poor shots. India have bowled exceptionally well and I think the pressure meant we played shots we shouldn’t have.

But let’s also be honest on these pitches where it is doing something our batting does struggle more than indias because they are more used to it and have better technique.

Think we are going to have to make a fair few changes for the next test as for me some of these have reached the end of any useful experiment. Certainly questions about the top 3 Pope and Crawley in particular and then Woakes, Carse and Bashir all are needing huge huge performances this innings because so far I’m not seeing them offering a lot.

Maybe, at their best. 1/2 in the batting, is great until you wrap 6 ducks into the innings. You're arguing against yourself.

I'd be happy to see the back end of Jadeja right now! :-)

We’ve bowled 7 overs at Bumrah who is off the back of 4 ducks or something like that. Ball is soft but still this is the problem. Who is the strike bowler in these situations?

Thanks Jasprit for throwing your wicket away. Sort of thing that drives you mad if you are up the other end. Done so much hard work. Look comfortable. Give it away like that.

I feel we may have spun this record, somewhat! :-)

I do not understand that if Archer is this top line quick why stokes is bowling 11 or 12 overs on the spin against the two rabbits - can’t imagine Bumrah not bowling to finish this off.

Yet we are reduced to Stokes flogging himself to death with hopefully short stuff. Why?

Ball is 70 overs in? Jasprit has taken the last wicket in an innings once, so far this series? Maybe Stokes wants the responsibility as Captain? Who knows...Archer wrapped up the first innings...That's as many "last wickets" in an innings as Bumrah has in 4 innings...

Sure - I’m not expecting Archer to bowl 10 on the bounce but seemed somewhat counterproductive not to give gun a couple before tea with 9 down and Stokes obviously being out on his feet. Not convinced that new ball will be a great thing as by then they might need one or two big hits and hitting this old ball is tougher.

What a ridiculous way for another incredible test to end.

Meanwhile…in their final test in the West Indies the Aussies were struggling a little only managing to set the Windies 203 to win. Windies made a good fist of the chase managing 27 all out.

Christ.
