Nay-Nay: so good they named me twice
"oh Nicky Hunt, should play up front, oh Nicky Hunt should play up front"

See, there's plenty of good news in the world if you look for it - I think we're just conditioned to think negatively.
I've won meself about £100 on poker in the last three days, and I'm pissing off to a new city tomorrow on the stag do, and I'm sat here listening to some tunes with a glass of red wine, and things seem pretty damn decent after a hellish day in work. Viva la weekend!

This is not a personal story but a local one.
Two years ago a car careered into a pre-school centre situated in Sydney. Two young girls were trapped underneath the vehicle for some time. Both were severely injured. One young lass lost one leg beneath the knee, the foot of the other leg, most fingers of one hand and suffered severe burns. Her scalp was that charred that even now she has only half a head of hair.
Her condition was critical for many days but she pulled through and, because she's a cheeky and stubborn little thing, she became the darling of the local press.
A couple of months ago, having gone through what must have been hell, received a prosthetic, done the physiotherapy and finally went home what happened? Her carer (nanny) was walking across a pedestrian crossing when a car failed to stop and ran straight into the stroller in which the young girl was being pushed homewards. Back to hospital.
She was in a coma for some time (induced or otherwise, I don't know) and doctors were not prepared to say that she'd pull through - in fact they seemed more pessimistic than the first time. She suffered severe internal organ damage and, I assume, broken bones.
Now she's back home again. This girl has an incredible will to live. She's still a little imp and seems to revel in the limelight. Many Australians have chipped in to help her parents with medical costs and on-going expenses.
While this could be seen as a sad story I prefer to look at the other side of the coin. So many children don't survive an accident of such severity, never mind come out of one with her obvious joie de vivre, and even less survive two such calamities.
Her name is Sophie Delezio and she is one brave and tough little girl.

Ah. I didn't think much got out from this cloistered society, Monty. My apologies to all.Montreal Wanderer wrote:It's an international story, Dujon - she even made wikipedia. A brave little girl but I'm not sure I would like to be anywhere in her vicinity given her rotten luck.
Good luck to both of you, Gemini.
My friend played netball with us for the first time last night following nearly 12 months of cancer treatment. She has had the all clear now and just has to go back for some final surgery. She looked great and it was brilliant to have her back.
We lost 31-11 !!!!!! But the result wasn't important (it would have been had we won!!!) it was just to get the team back together...

Well, I decided to take my first holiday this year and picked this week. P----d down all week, had to take the gazebo down to stop it blowing away, all the new plants got blown to ratshit, the wife dragged me to ASDA! and England had their worst 45 minutes ever of international football. Now I hear Sam's in the frame to manage AUSTRALIA....????
Good news.....er, well, the week's over and it's back to work on Monday. Glad a few of you had something to smile about though.

Thanks Monty that does give me great delight that he came out thicker than the bimbo today... It looks like my online stalker gave himself the afternoon off today..... Some chocolate and white wine will see me right I think.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Well, you came out ahead of commie in trivia - should give you some bragging rights.Gertie wrote:I need good news......... Today is a Friday and in 30mins I knock off for the weekend. Sun is shining and there'll be plenty of
totty to letch at in Castlefield whilst enjoying a well earned ale.
When I'm back in work on Tuesday. I will of course be saying Tuesday sucks ho hum

That is for ever England
