I think Sven's got it wrong.

Play Crouch as a front man and allow Rooney to come deeper. That way we don't play nearly as much long ball stuff. Hargreaves has his best match for England and then gets moved into a different position. Clueless. Hargreaves should be in the holding role allowing Gerrard to play his natural game. Lampard should be warming the bench.

Unless Peter Crouch is set to be our secret weapon coming off the bench and he's doing it that way.

Personally I figured that Sven would put Crouch on from the start as the Ecuadorian centreback pairing is one of the shortest in the tournament. If ever there was a game for Peter Crouch to win headers in this seemingly would be it. Unfortunately though it looks like Sven is willing to play Carrick to shore up the defence and play a defensive game.

The defensive game would be fine if we didn't have such a bad history of penalties but it would be a lot easier for us to actually progress if we did go to attack the team with a 5'11 defender.

Anyone else spot that Rooney has replaced Gerrard on the BBC's opening sequence.

Bloody hell, good job Ashley Cole is awake, could have been 0-1 after a Terry cock-up

Not very good at all. Dodgy Robbo.

Nice to see Joe Cole taking every single opportunity to fall over, the fat headed cock.

Pathetic, boring, lifeless, inept, er did I say pathetic performance. There is more energy in the Ecuadorian Goalkeeper than in the whole England team.

Rooney is not a loan striker, he is much better in support in a 4-4-2 format. Beckham not in the game and the defense is in disaray at times. Can't see us scoring at all unless we show much more urgency and attacking flair. Hope they practiced a lot of penalties.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

Take off Beckham (looks bored), bring on Lennon

Take off Carrick (out of his depth), bring on Crouch

Go 4-4-2.

From the BBC

PLAYER RATER: The best England player on show? Ashley Cole according to you. Not surprisingly you rank him the 12th best player on the pitch.

1-0 England, Beckham free kick.

Poor goalkeeping though. Still, 1-0 is 1-0

No. Never, ever take your captain off, unless he's injured. Or called Gary Breen.
