Juve player in suicide bid?
Very suspicious
Italy players Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluca Zambrotta have left the team's World Cup camp in Germany to visit Juventus colleague Gianluca Pessotto
Former Juve midfielder Gianluca Pessotto, 35, is seriously ill in hospital after falling from a window at the club's headquarters.
He was taken to a Turin hospital on Tuesday with multiple fractures.
A Turin hospital official speaking on Sky Italia television said police were investigating a suicide attempt.
A Juventus spokesman said: "Gianluca suffered multiple fractures, but his life is not in danger."
Pessotto was appointed Juve's sports director in May after 11 years as a player, during which he won 22 caps for Italy.
Juventus are due to face a sports tribunal over the match-fixing scandal that has engulfed Italian football.
Pessotto is not implicated in the scandal.
Italy captain and Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro walked out of a media conference at the Italian team's World Cup training camp when he heard about Pessotto's fall.
"I'm devastated. Pessotto was the nicest guy in the world," said Cannavaro.
Former Juventus player Ciro Ferrara, a member of Italy's coaching staff, was to join Del Piero and Zambrotta on a private flight.
