Powerpoint Help Required!!
I want to embed a video clip (wmv) in a powerpoint slide, so that the video players when the slide is opened as opposed to having an icon that needs to be clicked on.
I've gone through Insert, Object, Media clip, create from file, then haven't clicked "display as icon" but it still does.
anyone offer any help?????? Please????

I need this too, so do come forward if you can help.
On a more basic level (I suspect), does anyone know how I could cut out a short clip from a film that is a .avi file and I play using VLC, all on a Mac?

Insert and select said clip then go to slide show menu, click on custom animation and choose "add effect" and under object actions you should see "activate content" select this and choose it to start "with previous" - if you don't have a previous it should start immediately that the slide is displayed in slide show.communistworkethic wrote:I want to embed a video clip (wmv) in a powerpoint slide, so that the video players when the slide is opened as opposed to having an icon that needs to be clicked on.

Btw, with embedded video and audio clips you usually get an annoying "do you really want to activate this potentially dangerous content" message.

cheers Ben. however I feel very stupid as I found the "movies and sounds"options further down the "insert" dropdown, when I clicked on the arrowhead after 10 minutes of dicking about. How stupid am I????
MWCIEC - once you click on that and pick the file from your hard drive it asks you if you want to play it when the slide opens or not - piece of piss really.
note to self : don't try doing flash presentations while drinking a variety of european lagers.

Not sure there's a way to do that Commie as you have two independent fields here. Even animated items within Powerpoint usually have to be clicked on to operate. I've never tried it but am quite familiar with Powerpoint which has its restrictions. You could try making the icon full screen size and then it might just operate with a mouse click as opposed to moving the cursor to it. Don't know if it will work but it's all I can think of.communistworkethic wrote:I want to embed a video clip (wmv) in a powerpoint slide, so that the video players when the slide is opened as opposed to having an icon that needs to be clicked on.

This is the method you are after - you need to insert it as an object (or simply by dragging and dropping it into presentation, then follow above instructions. When you start slide show, clip automatically starts in external application.boltonben wrote:Insert and select said clip then go to slide show menu, click on custom animation and choose "add effect" and under object actions you should see "activate content" select this and choose it to start "with previous" - if you don't have a previous it should start immediately that the slide is displayed in slide show.
