Yeah, because I'm sure that an American owned, managed by a scotchman club such as Manchester United will care about England getting knocked out of the WC and promptly sell Ronaldo as a punishment.

Its nothing to do with punishment, there are already a few players at united who have fallen out with Ronaldo the past year, the main one being Ruud and one of the reasons he's fallen out of favour. It was rumoured that Ronaldo had texted Rooney after the Game, and everything was OK.

Here is how the text would have gone.
