My lad is dead keen and just loves to kick a ball, but Tuesday's don't work, and Little Lever is a bit of a trek.

Does anyone else know an under 8's in theWesthoughton, Horwich area?

Players birth cirtificates and pastport picks and parents signitures!
So that when you play a game you can hand them over to the other teams manager.

While im here im on the hunt for a goal keeper for my team U7's Ladaybridge Athletic they have to some expirence at playing and not complete novices. Sorry but Ive a real good team but no keeper.

They have to be born between Sept 99 and Sept 00 please let me know on at [email protected]
We Play at Lostock.

Thanks Everyone

I would have thought kids in an under 7's team should be playing for fun and simply learning basic skills?

I feel very sorry for the youngster that you have in goal now that you don't consider to be anything like good enough! The poor kid should be being encouraged and praised - not condemned to the scrap heap at the age of seven!

Surely you've got your priorities wrong?

Come on, Sluffy, pay attention. The team is "under seven" so the goalie on the scrap heap is six.

LOVE IT

WE HAD TWO GOALIES LAST YEAR AT U7

ONE WAS MY LAD, AND HE ONLY COPPED FOR IT COS I MADE HIM

ADVICE GIVEN TO ME WAS NOT TO EXPOSE ONE LAD TO BEING KEEPER AT THAT AGE

HE'LL EITHER NOT HAVE OWT TO DO, OR HE'LL LET GOALS IN AND HIS MATES WILL GET AT HIM

JUST PLAY FOR FUN AT U7

AT U8, KICK TO KILL

The analogy may not be exact but I coached novice hockey. I made each kid play one game in goal, after which the majority begged me not to put them in again. I then picked the best two (or the two who were prepared to do it) and no one picked on them if they had a bad game - the threat the picker would have to go back was enough. A former NHL goalie, Gump Worsley, once said hockey goalie was the worst job in the world. He said imagine you were at the office and, each time you made a tiny mistake, a red light went on above your head and 20,000 people screamed you were a bum.

The Gumper? No, he was always Gump though his first name was actually Lorne. See this. However, I was just illustrating the stress you goalies endure.

Lost 4-1 on the opening day, my son gave away a penalty in the first minute with what can only be discribed as a Ben Thatcher tackle  , then the goal keeper got stung 3 times by a horse fly. My wife applied antiseptic cream to the lads stings where he decided to rub it in him self then rubbed his eye's, the eye bath came out to flush away the antiseptic . What a day but very good fun.

Littlemc is training with the Wanderers tonight all part of is trial with the club :D bloody exciting i can't wait.
