Walking through the station on the way home I saw a billboard advertising a book by Rio Ferdinand... "The most talked about Footballer of his Generation Tells his Story!"

Talked about????? In "He looks a bit strange" and "he's very tall" I got my photo taken with him, and I think I'm level with the bottom of his ribcage, I'm like an umbrella hanging off his arm.

Is Rio really the most talked about footballer of his generation, does anyone really care??

I'll admit that one year I got 3 copies of David Beckham's book for Christmas, but then I'd say, he is talked about, I was interested and yes he's a very very good looking guy he has a lot of fame...

But Rio.... Do me a favour!!!!!! Or am I just a daft girl, and he does have lots to say?

I can't wait to find out who else he has 'merked' during the course of his career. Really, I can't.

Rio is a man of few words. It's not that he doesn't talk much. He just doesn't know many words.

If comments like 'He's a right twonk' count (or other words beginning with 'tw') then he may well be the most talked about footballer.

Rio Faretheewell is the most talked about by Rio Faretheewell.

Always giving interviews where he tells everyone they have to stand up and be counted, (he was at it again tonight in the Metro) always dashes the length of the field when someone score to make sure he gets on camera. Wonder if he tells them all about the day Kev Davies nutmegged him and scored? Doubt it. A shining example of a prat if ever there was one, and totally over-rated as a player. Buy his book, thou jest. Utter plonker.

The dreary git is on the radio at the moment. What a plank! Incredibly, the title of his book is even duller than he is (and too dull to bother repeating here).

do you mean "during the furore surrounding his missed drug test and sunsequent ban". There is no evidnce to suggest Rio has ever taken drugs and he has never provided a positive result drug test.

or do you mean "drug phrase"?? As in "wacky backy" or "speedballing"??

They were asking for alternative names for his book last night on Five Live. The winning title was 'fans ferdinand'...

I thought of a few alternatives...

'Cock' would have been a good title for it.

People who buy and read that have either: too much money, not enought to do with their time or are Man U supporters who all suffer from tunnel vision anyway. Nuff said.

As I mentioned earlier I got 3 copies of David Beckham's autobiography for christmas a few years ago and read it avidly. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the book finished with him signing for Real Madrid, I think he was 28/29.

I know some people believe you know everything at that age but there has been soooo much more go-on, particulary with his England situation.... so it seems to me crazy for these twenty-something footballers to produce these books when they haven't even had half a career.

I can't really comment as I'm a saddo who read it, but I'm guessing that for someone like Becks who was in the media spotlight... he thought if he didn't write it, someone else would produce one and he wouldn't get a bean from it.

But I'm sorry Rio, Cashley, Frank I couldn't care less about your books and mega lifestyles. I'm stupid, but not that stupid.

He's at it again, covering up his own ineficiencies by targeting others: Skysports:

"Meanwhile, Ferdinand has demanded United find their consistency if they are to win The Premiership title this season.
United have failed to win in their last two games and Ferdinand is keen for his side to get back on track against Newcastle this weekend. "If we keep our house in order and become more consistent, it will take a good team to finish above us," added Ferdinand.

"Ferdinand has demanded". What a plonker.

I'd say that failing to win their last two games was pretty consistent, wouldn't you? Here's hoping that their consistency runs and runs...
