Anyone seen Matthew Taylor's goal?

Post by Dr.Karl » Sat Dec 09, 2006 7:28 pm

Anyone seen this goal? I've just caught it on a stream and alll I can say is WOW. A serving dipping volley from 40 yards out, better than anything I've seen this season.

I thought Anelka against Arsenal was better, I thought Diouf's yesterday was on a par. There's a difference between a skilfully crafted goal and one where the ball falls in roughly the right place to give it a good wallop. Anelka hit his so hard that it didn't have to go about 75 yards in the air before it flukily looped back down. Anelka hit the ball so hard that Lehmann had no time to react and the ball travelled quite close to him.

Is there only me that thinks that Campo's against Tottingham was as good, if not better than Taylor's effort? :conf:

I'd say Essien's must rate rather high up the list too.

Me too, I'd also have him hitting the bar from pretty much underneath it as one of the all-time misses though.

It was a sensational strike but I don't personally think it was as good as Tugay's last week. And Essien may well have rivalled it today as well.

Which was better though Essien's or Taylor's.

Both class - although so was Dioufy's.

1) Diouf (sheer class), 2) Essien (lucky but beautiful strike), and 3) Taylor (pure unadulterated luck, 999/1000 it would miss)

Matt Taylors was phenomenal, a one in a lifetime.

Essiens was just superb technique, I was convinced it was going wide then curled at the last...I'd probably say Taylors is goal of the season though for the wow factor. 45 yards - further than Campo's!

Which for me makes it an even more incredible strike, it wasnt lucky, because he clearly went for it, and pulled it off, best out of the three for me but the way Essien cut across the ball to get it round the defender was superb

1) Taylor
2) Essien
3) Diouf

Our total football team goal for the first has to be admired aswell.

And Taylor has done it before, so it's not luck.
