God, there's been a few....

Resident evil (did they make a second?)... Doom, Super Mario Brothers, Mortal Combat...

I heard that there was a Halo film in the pipeline or did I just make that up?

Street Fighter was one of the worst. I remember there's this scene with a 'super boat', and it was the most ridiculous thing ever conceived..

What games would make good films? I can't think of many...

The only game, that I played recently, which had a decent storyline was God Of War.

not many i would think, a few spring to mind

metal gear solid (surprised this has never happened)
planescape : torment (awesome awesome storyline, hardly mainstream though)
sanitarium (little known game with a good deep storyline)
system shock (think that bit in 2001 a space odyssey with HAL, and add gore and killer robots)

but yeah, they never work

They made Wing Commander into a film, which wasn't all that bad!! The budget didn't help it as the special effects where cr@p, but it brought back memories of late nights on the amiga!!
