What's snow? We don't get anything wet falling out of the sky anymore here in Western Australia!

Its 30 degrees in the shade here today, haven't seen a real cloud for weeks if not months, and am off to play golf soon. We need some water here so any suggestions on how we can transport some of the UK's rain and snow to Australia would be much appreciated?? We currently have to drink foreign beer to save the local water. :drink:

Just about to embark on the drive from Cambridge to Royal Porthcawl.

It'd better not piss it down all weekend down there in South Wales....

I tried to rescue the missus from Brum city centre last night and the car crawled, skidded and slid its way through a traffic jam before I told her to get the train home (which she did successfully).

Still, the back garden looks grand though the snowman is positively wilting now.

1-20 in the afternoon, just getting ready for the rugby and it's business as usual in Farnworth, ie, rain. Snow is a distant memory.

Ok, so I did get thoroughly drenched, even through my waterproofs, on Saturday.

Royal Porthcawl though, what a place. Great sea views from every hole, and lightening fast greens even at this time of year.

Woods played there as an 19-year-old amateur in the Walker Cup in 1995 and lost his singles match to Gary Wolstenholme by firing a wedge right into the sea over the back of the 18th green. Of course, I had a 7-iron left in, but I was so tempted to pull out the 5 and plonk it onto the beach.

Anyway... to the story I returned to this thread to tell, apart from the stuff boring to non-golfers.

I went out in the first Cambridge pair in my foursomes match today, playing with our captain, and it soon became apparent that this bloke and his son were walking round watching us (which happens occasionally). So I get to about the fourth, and I was waiting by the side of the fairway for my partner to tee-off, and I started chatting to this bloke about golf etc., and I didn't recognise him (or rather his voice) at all at first. But on the sixth, my opponent started chatting to him about football, and suddenly something twigged when he started saying things like 'Mourinho' and 'Southgate' - he was in fact Ron Jones, the Welsh guy who is one of the BBC's top commentators. If you listen to Match of the Day tonight, he was commentating on the Chelsea-Middlesbrough match yesterday. Very interesting to put a face to a voice that is so familiar.

We had our second storm of the year yesterday - fortunately the worst passed to the south of us. We got about seven inches, while Burlington, Vermont - not too far away - got 29 inches. All in about seven hours. I'm not sure when commie is going skiing in Quebec but he'll have lots of coverage. No worries about global warming now.
