Last minute goals...

Post by Nozza » Sat Dec 16, 2006 9:35 pm

Anyone else go that little bit MORE mental when you score in the last minute to get something from the game?

I suprised myself today, never expected me to be that excited!

a fave one i always remember was when were playing Barnsley in the championship ( ) at Burnden and they were winning 2-1 and were going to end our HUGE unbeaten home record

Alan Thompson scored in the last minute and we all went F***** bonkers

the police had to pull me and about 20 others off the fence as we gave shit to the Barnsley fans!

The only one I can think of this season was Watford at home, but the one that sticks out for me was City away last season, after they hit the bar/post 6 times and we did hardly anything for the whole game and then for the last 5 minites put on loads of pressure, Henrik runs into the box tries to lob Dunne but the hand comes up and the penalty is converted by Speed, all shirtless Bolton fans going nuts

The one that I remember the most was Nobby's the season before last at St Andrews - I was in the home end!!

It was our first win in yonks after that losing streak that we went on.

Bizarrely, my Brummie mates didn't ask me to join them again last season!

My favourite was against Spurs only a few years back - last minute penalty winner by JJ - Give me hope that we really were going to survive!!!

Great call, Sluffy. I remember Doherty bringing Youri down, which in itself is a hanging offence.

We've scored one goal in the last 10 minutes of the 28 league games this season...

ferdinand's vs man utd would have been the sweetest, unfortunately the game lasted another minute allowing us to make a complete mess of things

geez I remember that one

We were on our 'bad' run of that season weren't we? Not won for what 4 or 5 games? we then just went on to blitz everyone but we didn't beat Barsnely all that season, or the one after!

The two ones mentioned I was both up in student-dom for - the Jay Jay one was my birthday and i was already pissed as a fart, and i watched the filth one in a bar in newcastle too. When Ferdinand popped up I ran Dioufy style round the bar giving shit to all the plastic scum fans watching who far outnumbered me. Then Nicky Hunt popped up at the end, and the rest was history....nearly including my relationship!!!

Fantastic Athers, thanks for bringing home the reality !

It's interesting we all remember our own ones, coz about 4 seasons ago we must have been the world specialists in letteg the buggers IN !!

That season, if we'd played Rugby Rules (40m each way) we'd have had about 12 more goals. I used to go into sheer panic in the final few minutes unless the ball was 80m from our goal line ... & even then ..... .

It was horrible.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

My most recent favourite was at Citeh last season when they murdered us for 89mins, hitting the bar & post about 78 times & then Speedo slotting home a last minute penalty to win it 1-0.

Dick Turpin had nothing on us - Sheer bliss!

Mellor's goal against Arsenal the other season was a reasonable one for going mental (cracking finish, too). Then there's also Gerrard's against Olympicos in 2005. Also, Collymore against Toon a good few years back in the 4-3 was pretty special...

On the flip side of the coin, I cried myself to sleep over Michael Thomas' effort at the Anny Road End... :(

I know you from SoccerAm lad...

Obviously scoring in the last minute is better than scoring in normal time, especially if it's a winner, because the time find it hard to come back from it.

My personal favourite is the one a Wolves 4/5 years ago, when big KD struck in injury time. And before you say it, I am 18 and I don't remember pre-war football. So don't use that smokescreen...

The only late goals I can think of this season are the Watford Penalty and Arsenal in FA cup. Can anyone think of any others?
