In the absence of anyone going for a reference to what I thought was a glaringly obvious "stealing bases" ... Manny is teh WINNER for referring to the cringeworthy baseball flick. Over to you, Mr Road-Terrace.....Manny wrote:
Little Jimmys mum was too shocked to look as his afternoon magic show ended with him pulling the original script of Kevin Costners "Field of Dreams" from his arse.

The kid is playing little league baseball and the woman is the third base coach. The kid seems more interest in playing with the base than standing on it prepared to score (it is supposed to stay on the ground and the kid lifted it). 'Stealing a base' is standard baseball terminology for running to the next base without a hit by being fast enough to outrun the catcher's throw. Therefore commie refers to a glaringly obvious pun.Bruce Rioja wrote:Obvious? "Stealing bases"? PU, stands for 'piss-up' in my house, Monty, and nothing else. The rest of what you've just ran through only just clears things up. How either you, or especially Commie, could ever imagine Baseball terminoligy to be 'obvious' is, at least, anal, and at best simply ridiculous. I'll have a word with him on Sunday, perhaps start shouting "Get in the hole" as he tees off on a 550 yard par five!Montreal Wanderer wrote:The kid is playing little league baseball and the woman is the third base coach.
