Isn't it just outstanding? Grows on me with every listen, too.jmjhb wrote:Can't stop listening to this album, i've had it on most of the weekBruce Rioja wrote:Introduced to me by Capslock and encouraged by jmjhb, Thirst For Romance by Cherry Ghost. It's fecking superb. Apparently they're supporting both Crowded House and The Manics later this year. Fair play!

I don't dig Blood Mountain at all really. Leviathan and Remission are both brilliant though.
I saw them in Nottingham about 2 months before Leviathan came out and they opened with Hearts Alive and played at least five songs off Leviathan in total - all new to the audience. It definitely ranks as one of the best gigs i've ever attended. Truly awesome.

Hey Delanotte. Nice to get a view from outside UK. This thread's taught me a lot about other people's tastes in music. Bruce was right when he said there's heaps of stuff outside mainstream music to keep everybody happy. Matter of fact mainstream is no guide to music at all these days; ruled by fourteen year old kids obsessed with wannabee pop stars. I might even go mad and give a listen to a few of the suggested good groups although my own tastes are more ancient. Keep posting.delanotte wrote:Suburban Knights - Hard-fi

Absolutely. Every song has it's own mood and purpose. I've come to find that it's an album that I can't 'snack' at. It's the whole thing or none of it. I've even found myself going the long way round to get to places!jmjhb wrote:Your favourite song on Thirst for Romance, people? Gotta be False Alarm for me, followed by Alfred the Great and Mountain Bird, but there isn't a bad song on the album.

I'm not keen on Remission. When it came out (2003!! Bloody hell that went quick) everybody was raving about them but I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Its grown on me since then but I'm still not a big fan.I don't dig Blood Mountain at all really. Leviathan and Remission are both brilliant though.

Blood Mountain has its moments but their sound has changed so much, evidenced by them referring to themselves as a 'rock band' these days. When Remission came out they were talking about taking the metal to Japan.
Anyway, I've had an annoying day today so I'm in the mood for Converge - When Forever Comes Crashing.
Sondre Lerche have been on a lot tonight - there were quite a few of his on a CD I knocked up for the missus recently, so he's back on my playlist after a few months away. I'd recommend people to check him out if they're into folky type acoustic stuff. I won't compare him to people, because that so often clouds judgement, but I'll recommend a couple of tracks if anyone wants.
