Corner of 42nd st. one? I ate at TGI s there, and its in the top 3 worst meals I've had in my life. the Americans generally mistake "customer service" for "pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap". Awful.enfieldwhite wrote:I went to a TGI in New York and it was just the same.Raven wrote:OK its TGI Friday and the one I went to was in Coventry and it was vile, OTT waiter far too Americanised for me and we don't do that American style service well, its comes across as fake.![]()

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Which one? I went to the one in or around Times Square, didn't really mind it tbh as I was bloody hungry.enfieldwhite wrote:I went to a TGI in New York and it was just the same.Raven wrote:OK its TGI Friday and the one I went to was in Coventry and it was vile, OTT waiter far too Americanised for me and we don't do that American style service well, its comes across as fake.![]()

TGI Prestwich for me. Horrible. They keep sending me offers by e-mail, which look ok. Then I remember the food. Any price would be too much.enfieldwhite wrote:I went to a TGI in New York and it was just the same.Raven wrote:OK its TGI Friday and the one I went to was in Coventry and it was vile, OTT waiter far too Americanised for me and we don't do that American style service well, its comes across as fake.![]()

Thought the Bolton La Tasca was pretty ordinary when I went a few years ago.
An earlier caller mentioned Dimitri's "tapas bar" in Deansgate ... I went there reluctantly after the girl pointed out it always seemed full with a queue outside. And that was worse than La Tasca.
No offence to readers, but I don't think the Brits are the best judges of Spanish food, which is understandable if your experiences of Spanish food are limited to Costa del Sol and stuff either side of Las Ramblas in Barcelona.
A visit to San Sebastian (and up in the Basque region) will set you right, and render all other Spanish food you've eaten as pretty poor.
Outside of San Seb, the best tapas I've had is in Sydney - cute place overlooking Bondi Beach, called Mojo's ... real Spanish chefs serving fresh stuff in teracotta bowls - quality.

In my younger younger days, i.e 10 years old. I always remember being in Tiggis, with mama papa, few of their friends.
I always remember one of the lads leaning back on his chair at the top of his voice shouting..
"UUUUUH UHHH UH UH UHH TERRRRRRRRRRRRIEEEEEEE MACDERMOT!!"
And then falling off and banging his head on the knife and fork draw.
LOL

for anyone who's not been it's a buffet of raw meat and fish, sauce, veg and spices which you give to the chef who cooks it all together on a jock off wok thing
