My Name Is Earl is probably the best American import for years in my opinion . The 1st series was immence , 2nd was class , the 3rd is a bit more surreal but last weeks episode with crabmans song and Randy being a crimefighter with that wierd puppet had me in stitches... Pure class
Life is not like a box of chocolates , it is infact , like a box of chuck norris roundhouse kicking you in the face. And if you recieve a box of chuck norris , you always know what your gonna get.

I'm glad someone else knows of The Wire! Fantastic TV, just a shame it's not got the audience it deserved (as far as I know it's never been on terrestrial or indeed mainstream TV over here).

Honourable mentions have to go to The Simpsons, The Sopranos, Law and Order and Scrubs.

It's a (police) drama show set in Baltimore, with each season focusing on particular problems and sociological issues in the city (ie. the first season was about the drug war). You get to see both sides of the story, it's very in-depth and perfect for character development (and also, most of the cast are character actors) As a result, the first few episodes of each season are generally quite slow-moving, but really fulfilling if you continue to stick with it.

It gets better every time you watch it, because there's always something you might have missed.

Tried The Wire. Wasn't for me, but I could see it's intelligent and many trusted voices have waxed about the interconnected universe it portrays.

St. Elsewhere was on Channel 4 at about four o'clock this morning too. My ma used to watch it but I can't remember if it was any good or not though; I just remember that bloke who was the voice of KITT in Knightrider playing a doctor in it. :?

I saw The Wire, the first time it was shown on FX channel. I really enjoyed it. But the first season shown on UK tv was actually the 4th season. I was disappointed as when it was announced a new series was to be shown they went back to the start and showed season 1. :( I lost interest after that.
