no, O2 have a "fair usage policy" (bottom of page - excessive usage policy and full terms apply) , which means you can use it for free pretty much whenever you want as long as you don't take the piss.

but a couple of hours a day at work wont be a problem?

Whats your opinion on it mate - my mate has just said the following...

Jay says:
u do know you cant send anythin via bluetooth, send a picture message and when it rings its quiet as feck. I just use mine as an MP3 player in the gym. But if you want one, i can get you your contracr 30% off every month

Oh yeah, 2 hours a day would be fine... though you'd definitely be looking at needing to charge it everynight with that kind of usage. Wireless is better because it's twice as fast.

Anyway, I really like mine, and I reckon it rings about as loudly as my last phone... :conf:

One thing it can't do at the moment that, say, a blackberry can do, is work as a sat nav.

Mate of mine, an evangelical Machead, was showing off his iPhone t'other day. There's downloadable programme which has all the stars in the night sky on it. You could navigate by that, Mummy...

Just been reading up and I guess direct push email to an iPhone would come via the 3G which would be handy for work - then I could refer to emails on my iphone while talking on my standard-issue work Nokia. Found it to be an issue with a Blackberry or Smartphone when you're talking about emails/documents/spreadsheets you can't see unless you're sat in front of your laptop.

Push email will probably drink the battery though and there's no radio as far as I can see. Is the Sat Nav facility just a matter of time?

Yeah, it does drain the battery, but even if you hammer it, it will see the day out.

Apparently Tom Tom have a version of their software running on an iPhone in the lab, so yes, it's just a matter of time....

The iPhone has a GPS system that works with google maps, but thanks for the heads up, DSB.

Your friend sounds like a sensible chap, by the way.

I got thoroughly warned off the iPhone because a) it's got a sh*t camera b) you can't send & receive via bluetooth and c) it's so f*ckin bulky that the main uses are internet & MP3. Well, I've got internet on the phone I have now and I have an iPod so I think this is similar to a blackberry.

Well, if a good camera and sending and receiving files via bluetooth are major things for you in a phone, then perhaps you are better off avoiding the iPhone.

Personally, if I'm taking proper pictures then I use a digital camera, and find the iPhone camera adequate for the phone stuff, and I never send and receive stuff via bluetooth anyway. And I have the 16Gb version and don't find it bulky at all... to be honest, I think anything less substantial would annoy me.

From what I have seen, the iphone is definitely my favourite device for mobile internet, especially with the purpose-built eBay, Google, Facebook, Youtube, Wikipedia applications for iPhone.
