Aye I know - I found that a bit amusing when I saw the results; Obama 15 McCain 6 :D but like you say, not too significant in the race for 270.

As Mummy says, we'll know more by midnight. It'll be interesting to see how Pennsylvania votes too.

Especially since the whole of New Hampshire has only four electoral college votes.

1968 I think for Dixville Notch, but New Hampshire itself was Democrat last time round

Might we have to go through this whole, sorry, double-hanging clagnuts thing again? Please say that we'll be spared.

McCain has fettered himself to a corpse with that idiot (if you can forgive the obvious ironic pun).

Obama wins Guam! It's a more reliable predictor than Dixville Notch, NH:

* Before President Reagan crushed Walter Mondale in 1984, he won by a landslide in Guam.

* In 1992, Guam's straw poll said President George H. W. Bush only deserved one term.

* In 1996 Guam re-elected President Clinton by a wider margin than the states.

* In Guam, George W. Bush barely snuck past Al Gore in 2000.

* W beat John Kerry with ease in 2004.

Since this and the last two have been close I always forget how the US elections used to often be complete landslides, Reagan and Nixon I think won 49 states to 1 which is just incredible really.

Watching this on BBC, but someone mentioned CNN's coverage. After one minute, I had to switch over. There's an information overload all over the screen. It's how I'd imagine being a pilot. And they have people reporting as holograms, for God's sake. Not live link-ups. They pop in the hologrammed form of the reporter into the studio. Dear God.

MSNBC's feed is probably the best of the lot, apart from the regular breaks: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp ... 6#22887506

BBC's on the other hand is absolutely atrocious. Why were they interviewing Ricky Gervais?

I'd wager that they'r interviewing Gervais because thy're scared that people haven't heard of the other guests, and that he has a film out.

I was more taken by his answer to the question "who would David Brent vote for?". His answer was a very dismissive "Obama, because he would want the change." Not playing in the slightest. Treated the question with the contempt it deserved.

ITV had John Culshaw as a main guest. I'm surprised he wasn't blacked up.

This is a great day for the world!

The world has an intelligent and articulate leader, who ahead of his time, has achieved something that America was barely ready for.

Black Americans have the inspiration they so badly need.

It is the beginning of the end of mindless bigotry and racism, in the land where those regrettable human traits were first established on a large scale.

The world can now respect America.

I for one feel inspired today. The world is a better place today than yesterday.

Or, unfortunately, the beginning of it.

Great news, it's just what the world needed nevermind the US.
