I've thought of another - Righteous Kill. A twist so bad, that I don't even need to spoil it in order to demonstrate how craptastically inane it is.

Here's the synopsis of the film....

Al Pacino and Roberto De Niro are two veteran detectives and best friends, who are investigating a serial killer. Alongside this, the film is interspersed with clips of De Niro confessing to the murders.

Can you tell what it is yet?

feck me, what a horrible, horrible film. Made only worthwhile because of this piece of morbidly amusing irony http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/mu ... 06666c.jpg

That's annoyed me even more. Not because of the shooting, but because of the way Pacino's presumably demanded his name to be higher than De Niro's if he has to go second. See also the Towering Inferno credits, where Steve McQueen and Paul Newman's names are bottom-left and top-right (they'd also demanded, and received, an equakl number of lines in the film) and the Kaiser Chiefs' second album cover, where the two main songwriters' heads are made just bigger enough to be annoying.

Get over yourself...

Best

Das Boat : A truly great ending & one that like the spanish inquisition you did'nt expect

Worst

Any foreign film that was remade into an American one & they change the ending
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England

Dutch director Georges Sluizer was ordered by Hollywood suits to change the bleak and frankly scary ending of his masterpiece The Vanishing when he remade it for American audiences.

Hard Candy.

I love the juxtaposition between the set piece itself and the beautiful sunset behind it.

Or The Vanishing.

Which really, really ruins a very dark film

Those of you with young kids.

Have you seen the Bridge to Terabithia?

Won't spoil it but a shocking way to finish a film watched by a target audience of 5 to 10 year olds!

12 Monkeys is very cleverly put together, the ending few minutes are superb. I like the ending to Trainspotting too.

I see the Matrix 2 and 3 as one long needless car-crash of an ending, like so many sequels. And the Empire Strikes back doesn't end with a big battle, which is a real let-down to an otherwse good film.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Worst ending must be Titanic, surely?

The ship sinks; so, so predictable.

Have no young kids, but I saw it anyway. Twas an odd topic for a kids film, I agree.

Best Ending? Shawshank Redemption.

Worst Ending? Matrix 3. and many others, but I really hated the way that went from a great opening movie to an okay movie to complete shit.

You see, General, that's shows how opinions vary. I liked the ending of Bury-Dog Millionaire as I truly didn't expect it to be positive. I was tense as shite waiting for her to be hit by a train.

My worst 2 endings are on 2 films I love, Blazing Saddles ... where they find themselves on a Musical Film lot and Monty Python & the Holy Grail, where, frankly, they ran out of steam (or money).

Best endings Carrie ... I shat myself at the final scene ... and Papillon.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Well soldier I would stick with your first suggestion. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest has an ending that still sticks with me after all these years. The entire movie was classic and had a fitting end.

Worst endings are tough, because many of the movies listed above I thought were simply crap movies. I loved the end of Matrix 2 (only one I saw) because it meant the movie was over and I was finally being put out of my misery after watching possibly one of the worst movies ever made. Jaws 4 never saw but didn't the entire movie suck?

Of recent films watched Blood Diamond was quite disappointing. A quick convenient way to bring a pseudo happy ending to a movie that had little happiness throughout the film. The film I enjoyed, but I did not need to made to feel good before leaving the cinema. Seen enough blood diamonds getting flaunted to think that a couple of pictures will solve the problem.

Stephen King's IT. What a let down after hours and hours invested in watching it. Big fooking spider thing? Fook off.
