Indeed. Though I bet you would deep down were they in a world cup final.

Excellent character insight.

Can you imagine the aftermath should they ever win a tournament like that? It'd be a nightmare of white van flags, newspaper pullouts and knighthoods for Sir Peter Crouch.

No thanks.

Is calling someone a daily mail reader the new catch-all for someone who disagrees with you?

Don't get me wrong, it's a facist horrible load of shite, just wondering is all...

Bah I thought that was the Little Englander comment.

Perhaps I should stop reading the Mail.

FD I didn't call anyone a daily mail reader or a little Englander for that matter. I said I presumed that the Murray hatred was the domain of those two categories which is why I'm surprised W4E didn't like him as I'm sure W4E is neither!

Daily Mail readers (in my experience) are ones who form an opinion based usually on a mis-informed article, and the opinion holds above all else, no matter what for just about ever.

Perhaps I'm being harsh?

I didn't accuse you of anything BWFC_I, I just saw the Daily mail mentioned in that kind of context and thought I'd ask a general question!

For the record, I agree with you, but I don't think you can generalise such an enormous of people like that, quite simply, because everyone is unique.

Murray is dislikeable largely because he plays tennis - a rubbish sport.

If he were a performing seal, as mentioned previously, he would be more likeable, since

a) Seals are cute;
b) Playing tennis whilst lacking opposable thumbs is surely an impressive feat.

I hope that clarifies things.

I'm waiting for Sue Barker to trip up and call him a scot as soon as he loses.

I haven't seen much of this years Wimbledon, but I caught that bit. What a massive cock he was. I hope he felt proud of himself afterwards.

Got onto court one after 16 hours of queueing. From what I saw, Murray has a good chance of getting to the final . Despite the speed, Roddick's serve was often vunerable and I would expect Murray to be able to break serve. Roddick wasn't effected at all by overwhelming Hewitt support, so can't see him being phased by the home crowd, but Murray should have enough to get through.

If anyone can break Roddick's serve it's Murray. 6-4 6-4 6-4 to Murray I'm goinfer.

Tommy Haas is a hero.

One every year, and this time it's Haas; something about Wimbledon seems to reward veterans.

There was that funny year that Bjorkman of all people made it really far, before going out to Fed. Seemed strange that a person who mostly relied on their doubles play made it that far.

As for the women's game, I've had enough of it. Who wants to watch another Williams thwackathon? The lack of bottle by Dementieva and 'number 1 seed' Safina was unbelievable. What's going on that the top ranked player wins just one game against Venus? I know she likes Wimbledon but jeez...

Am afraid I'm a turncoat and want Murray to lose today (though I am fairly sure he won't)

reason? Just grumpy niggardlyness..

I am not a tennis fan - and he irritates me - but more than that, it irritates me that it takes over my radio - this morning i was woken with a very long montage of loud jangly (I believe you call it "pop") music overlaid with every point Murray has won this year at Wimbledon with screaming fans and commentators close to orgasm...

then they interviewed the man who used to empty the bins in the park where Murray was taken as a toddler a few years before he started work there and asked him how it felt to see a British man nearly in a Wimbledon final - summat like that anyway..

so - Murray losing will rescue my saturday and sunday

It is not an all english/british thing.... I do always want english clubs (except bolton) to lose in the UEFA/chumps league.... I do always want Hamilton to lose at F1 (but not Button) - though i don't know either of them

I always want England to win at rugby and cricket and football.. (and the British Lions)

just - not Murray - it's a mixture of irrational things, and I'm sure he'll do fine without my support

Safina fair enough, but how the hell can you accuse Dementieva for lacking bottle? She was in one of the best womens matches in living memory!

I'd more kindly say that on a couple of occasions she lacked the mental edge to put the match away.

Shame Henin isn't still playing to break up the Williams, used to enjoy how a 5'5 girl weighing about 9 stone (ie same dimensions as girl on street) could beat a power athlete like Serena using technique and mobility.

Have a feeling Roddick will win today. He looks like a man on a mission to me.

Hope I'm wrong!

I hope you're not! I'd love an enjoyable weekend free from Murray hype!
