In the town centre I'd stick with the Olive Press. If I'm after curry I go to Spice Valley, which is excellent. for chinese the Noble House in the old Spinners Hall is very good. i enjoy Ciao Napoli on Mawdsley St, partly for its bad taste murals and, even though it's a chain, La Tasca has the virtue of the best quality bottle of house red anywhere. I've not done it for a while myself, but have friends who eat at the octagon itself with their themed pre-show menus. I think you need to make a reservation for this.clapton is god wrote:Looking forward to this - we're in next Friday evening.William the White wrote:Bruce - it is simply magnificent. The acting is just of a such a rare quality, and all through the cast, no weak links... I love the play, Miller writes with such heart...Bruce Rioja wrote:Let us know how it goes won't you, William? First production by David Thacker, the new Artistic Director. Really looking forward to it.
It got about a third of the audience standing for the curtain call.. Three calls rather than the usual two...
I saw that production of Salesman as well - if you loved that, you'll be bowled over by this... I was...
You said in another thread that there are several decent places to eat in Bolton. Now that I don't live or work in the town I've lost touch and we normally end up at The Olive Press. Where else can you recommend for a pre-show meal?
The production is brilliant!

I ate at La Tasca in Belfast a couple of weeks ago - it was absolute shite. I don't know if the one in Bolton's much different. Agree with William re: Olive Press, Spice Valley and Noble House. Beyond those three I'd say it's a struggle. Unless, of course, anyone knows any different ![Confused :conf:](./images/smilies/confused.gif)

Have to agree, I think La Tasca as a chain has completely lost the plot.Bruce Rioja wrote:I ate at La Tasca in Belfast a couple of weeks ago - it was absolute shite. Anyway, to the reason I came to this thread.
I can heartily recommend Kevin McCloud's 'Grand Tour' series on Channel 4 at the moment. It's a sort of architecture/history/travel programme entertainingly made for the layman. Having recently visited Rome myself, watching McCloud go round some of the same sights is tremendous.
Definitely worth watching on 4onDemand if it's passed you by. 2nd and 3rd programmes better than the 1st.

It's half-decent that.TANGODANCER wrote:Watched "Vantage Point". An attempted assassination of the American President by Moroccan terrorists in Spain. Same scene backtracked and shown through half a dozen different pairs of eyes, and the aftermath. Quite cleverly done. I enjoyed it.
I watched some more of series 2 of the Wire, hotting up nicely, and I can't help thinking that Ziggy looks a helluva lot like Christian Bale.
