Thanks for the concern gents. I'd bought ahead this time, having factored into my planning the nonsensical pointless completely unneccesary legal obligation for shops to close at 6pm.

Ah, thanks, gentlemen. I can't say that I've seen rear fog lights on a vehicle here, although that could be my renowned skill at observing. I am sure, though, that I've never seen any in operation. If I get caught in fog I (and many others) activate the hazard lights.

a) there's nobody in the first lane
b) they stick to around 65 mph
c) they know you can't get into the 3rd lane

Yes, we're Billions in debt, but 3 million people are displaced or affected by this natural disaster. That's a third of the population. You'd like to withold aid because 'HAITI' may not send aid if we were in trouble? This country is one of the poorest in the world and has suffered years of internal strife and external apathy.

You lot remember this when you drive over pot hole riddled roads or wait hours in A & E because of a shortage of funds!!!!
If, a big if, we really were a rich nation and not just somewhere with a few big hitters in finance that happen to live give aid! but we cannot afford to do it as a goverment, if individuals wish to do so good luck to them its their choice just don't foist giving public money needed for us to somewhere else upon us.
And what the hell is wrong with a bit of self interest??? it seems to apply every hwere else except in the UK were it is regarded as a dirty word.

Right, for a kick off, don't just presume that we are the only nation giving Haiti aid - the U.S. being the most notable, and more debt-ridden, example. In fact, here's a list of over a hundred countries, big and small, crises-ridden or relatively stable, who have donated aid http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanitari ... earthquake you'll probably notice that the action carried out is mostly relative to the country's ability to help. That's how it should be.

Good thinking, reckon the Yanks will bring it over in that big boat they got moored off the coast?

Oh and while we are at it What are the Yanks doing in there so quickly? Goodwill and charity? or could it be down to the fact there are about 45,000 US citizens in there requiring the US airforce to close the airport to aid flights to extract them!!

particularly those who...

pick up EVERY fruit or vegetable with their cat-wee stained fingers - squeeze it, sniff it and replace it -

investigate every fecking tin of tuna with a suspicious look - as if one might have a special visible strain of botulism attached to it

accept your offer to go ahead of you because they only have 2 items - only for them to unload dozens more fom their pockets

wangle their way to the friont of the queue - and then send blind and incompetant husband to get another tin of peas because she had not noticed they were BOGOF

pay for stuff - take 20mins to get it into a tiny string bag - then linger and check the bill - and then question the price of the kit-kats - "It said they were on special offer dear - can you check for me?" - only for the checkout girl to send a minion to check and discover that the special offer was for the mars bars several shelves away....

"can i swap the kits kats for some mars bars then?"

then to insist on paying with cash - pennies, cough-sweets and ask if a 6yr old voucher for Lenor counts!

they should not be allowed in shops - end of.
