Anyone heard of the band Manchester Orchestra?

They're from Atlanta. I happened upon them in the listen-alike type recommendation bit whilst listening to some Death Cab For Cutie stuff on LostFM. I'm impressed enough to have just ordered their album Mean Everything to Nothing.

To be honest, Tango, I've never really looked at it in such great detail. Thanks for that! :D

For some reason that made me think of the Trashcan Sinatra's:

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Two new albums today:

Meat Loaf and Hang Cool Teddy Bear. Only listened to half of it so far but pretty standard rock and roll.

James new mini-album arrived in the post yesterday. Named The Night Before and has just 7 tracks with an eighth supposedly available to download but for the life of me I can't get to it. Superb stuff!

Incidentally, I've seen James twice in the last ten days at Preston and then last Friday at the Royal Albert Hall. No sooner have I got home than details of the next tour are released. The last date of the winter tour is at the MEN on the 18th December and tickets are on general sale on Friday morning (or on pre-sale tomorrow morning 8) if you know where to look )

After our discussion on one of the other threads, I happily gave them a youtube try, happy in the knowledge I'd be able to return shortly and tell you they were a bag o shite. Sorely disappointed. They even clubbed together to buy a keyboard. Might be making a purchase myself.

I've just discovered 'LaBlogotheque' and their take-away shows. Basically it's a French blog where bands play their stuff in the street, almost busker style. Some really good bands on there with a really different sound to usual. Think I'll be spending the night perusing that.

Website http://www.blogotheque.net/spip.php?pag ... ll&lang=en
YouTube page http://www.youtube.com/user/LaBlogotheque#g/u

Edit - been watching it more and some of the stuff is pretty incredible. I stumbled across it looking for some Guillemots stuff, but there's bands on there like Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Noah and the Whale, Sigur Ross, Arcade Fire and Foals - all doing these sets on the street or in random cafes. The videos themselves are brilliant capturing every day people wandering past. Enjoy your listening!

Funnily enough that's how I came across the blog. Heard that, was looking at Fyfe Dangerfield's new solo stuff (which IMO is very good) on YouTube and the version of Annie Let's Not Wait in Paris was suggested.
